I'm not expecting any announcement from PSA regarding "staffing levels" or furloughs until the scope of the mainline reductions is better known. Ironically, mainline downsizing may actually increase (or at least not substantially decrease) the amount of flying PSA does. It's entirely conceivable that RJs will replace some of the thinner routes that aren't profitable on mainline jets.
Additionally, consider
where the mainline reductions will occurr: LasVegas, LaGuardia, and Boston. PSA has absolutely no exposure to Vegas or Boston, and very very little to LaGuardia. If anyone is going to take a bullet for these reductions, it would be Piedmont and Air Wisconsin.
Finally, since DCA will see an increase in flying, it is possible that PSA will see a small increase in block hours, or at least no big net change in block hours (i.e. flying lost with the LaGuardia closure may be made up for with more DCA flying).
I wish everybody at PSA the best, and hope that all affected at mainline and the regional affiliates get through this situation as best as they can.
