Colgan Q400 Crash Outside BUF
#91
This is not good at all, thoughts and prayers go out to the family/friends of those lost.
I just flew into ROC tonight an hour before that crash, we flew directly over BUF. Weather was low clouds/vis, gusty with snow, our RVR was 4000 in ROC.

A man who took photos at the site is talking with CNN over the phone. Says he talked to 9 adults who witnessed the crash and ALL said the aircraft was on fire before it hit the ground.

The ATC tape was very difficult to listen to. Very eerie how the pilot sounds so 'normal' at last contact, then it's all over. Man - no room for error, anything could happen so damn fast. Take nothing for granted. Horrible all around.

News Report saying it was on fire inflight, the other dashes engine fires reignite once you bring the gear down, that is why there is the rudder isolation valve. due to a piedmont crash at BWI in the Late 80's.
