tough decision but my guess would be if you are locked in a contract that you choose to honor when SkyWest calls you, they will still keep you in the pool until you are eligible if they are still hiring. Good luck.

I agree that they would probably allow you to complete your training contract.

But if you are already typed, why the training contract? It seems that most employers who require a training contract want to abuse you...they know that without the contract you will not put up with their crap for long. If it turns out to be one those kind of arrangements, I would not hesitate to find a way out of the contract when the time comes.

I can see a possible EMB CA - CRJ CA (taking care of the SR Socal EMB CA's who want LAX RJ CA) or an optional EMB CA - CRJ FO transition class but moving EMB FO's to CRJ FO makes no sense seeing that we are way understaffed as it is on EMB FO's.

Heck, I’ve even tossed around the idea of going back to CR9 FO in ATL just so I can stop commuting. I have more than enough TPIC and I just want to be home more after my second kid is born. But, if I voluntarily downgrade I’m seat locked for 1 year and that's unacceptable in my mind. What I’m leaning towards is remaining an EMB CA and dropping one of my 4 – 4 day trips every month which would give me my 18-19 days off and my pay would still be equal to that of an RJ FO. Plus I'd still be padding my logbook with TPIC.

What I want is a transition to ATL CRJ CA but I'm not holding my breath.

Is the possibility of running a CRJ-> EMB FO transition class in October still being thrown around?

That's the only class that makes sense to me. You know, 2 + 2...........we're fat on RJ FO's and short on EMB FO's soooooooo lets move EMB FO's to the RJ , especially now that our EMB flying's not decreasing (square peg meet round hole).......................but I'm not Mgmnt and Mgmnt does what Mgmnt wants.

More cuts announced for delta towards the end of the year because of the poor loads on int'l loads.... sounds like my eyes will burn with chlorine for a while longer

Just wondering what all the current SkyWest poolies are doing and if you still plan to go when the time comes. Currently I'm still at Mesa but within the next 6 months my overall seniority will be less than when I started two years ago. Definitely still think I'll make the jump when/if the time comes.

I'm still instructing. Building up some serious single engine time. I do plan on waiting and accepting my spot in the pool.

I'm in the pool and I'm still instructing too, but it's getting old fast. I think I'll give it another year tops, and then I'm going to have to move on with my life (away from instructing), even if that means something ridiculous like teaching English in Asia... When Skywest is ready to finally give me a class date I'd certainly take it. I'm at the bottom of the pool anyways, so I figure there will be plenty of advance notice for when I would be starting training. So that would allow me to go rent a plane and get current at the very least. I'm not going to instruct for 5 more years just to keep currency for something that may never materialize.

Who knows, they might even pull the plug and drain the pool. I mean, it's been over a year since I was hired... Plus I guess SKYW would bring on all those furloughed ASA guys before us. I'm thinking it's gonna be a very long time still...
