There is class of 6 that started last week, another class of 6 starting the week of the 28th, and one more class in September so far. I got in this next class starting on the 28th. Looks like experience levels are starting to rise (7000+ TT). I've been on the street for 6 months, this is the first bite I have gotten. I'm thankful to be one of the chosen few.

Wow, I can't believe this thread has lasted three days without the inevitable "When do the flowbacks start?" post!

The flowups will start relatively soon. Flowbacks? In 6-10 years there will probably be some, but not for any pilots currently at DAL.

Cliff, please explain what your crystal ball is showing you. The general feeling out there is that the combined Delta will be overstaffed through next summer and beyond. I don't see any hiring (flowup) at Delta anytime soon.

Hi!

Because the "general feeling" is wrong. It is based on how things have been going, which is not good.

Economically, the world is improving, overall, and there is nowhere to go but up. ANY changes that would increase or decrease the need for pilots in the short run will only be positive, and we will need more pilots. If ANY of the proposed congressional/FAA changes go through, they will add to the increase in pilots needed.

The worst case short-term economic scenario means no change from now, which means no furloughs. ANY change, which IS happening now, will be positive and require more pilots.

Do you work for Compass? Don't get ahead of yourself. I think DC-9 is a little more realistic.

I sensed a sarcastic tone from his post.
