Set to begin class next week at XJT..recently offered an interview at Compass. Wish they offered interviews on the weekend, as class is Mon-Fri for the next few months

Tough pickle, maybe you can call in sick a few days to go interview at Compass. Always best to explore ALL options... and not trying to be biased at all, but would you rather put yourself at the bottom of a 4600 pilot f'd up situation list or under a list of 450 pilots with attrition that is through the roof right now... just sayin

Anyone know anything about the new contract? Last question--how's the existing commuter clause?

23 sections TAed. Improvements include long call reserve, per diem increase, sick accrual increase, bid for training, deadhead % increase (currently 75%), numerous vacation improvements (attached day off, increased vacation day credit, more total days off in a vacation month), paid parking for all pilots.

6 Sections open, arbitration coming after a late add negotiating session next week.

I'm regards to the commuter policy: 2 flights that arrive a "reasonable" amount of time before check in. Pilots don't have to designate themselves as a commuter, nor do they have to identify a commuting city. With the new contract, you can only use it 3 times in a rolling twelve month period before being disciplined, at the Chief Pilot's discretion.

Great info, thanks a lot. What's the vibe on new contract ratification timeline? I was told "in a month" by the people in the office.

Slight correction/clarification. There is nothing that says there will be discipline after the third time. You could use the commuter policy 4 or more times and have nothing happen. But, after the third time, it's the CP's discretion as how to deal with it. If it's legit...nothing's going to happen. If you're abusing the policy...you may get b-slapped.

If it the remaining sections don't get TA'd. The arbitration ruling is due toward the end of November. After that...it just needs to be signed.

Asked one of the union types about - said its kind of a long process. After the arbitrator rules, his award has to be meshed into the existing agreement. He won't hand down a final language award, so the parties will have to agree on how his bullet points (or whatever he hands down) fit into our existing agreement. Then, these TAs have to read sentence by sentence by both sides to ensure what's on paper is what they agreed to. At that point, it gets sent off to be formatted and printed.

December, January is a WAG.

I'd say closer to January or February is probably realistic. Luckily, the arbitrator is still actively invovled during the line for line process, so this should prevent the company from taking an excessive amount of time to "read through" everything--not that our managment would do such a thing.

Is housing during training being looked at?
