From what I have heard, they are hiring a bit higher than that. I am not that far away from their mins, so I will be applying there fairly soon, and I think I can get my old instructor to walk it in. I hope they are still going to be this low for a while.

Aren't you guys at all concerned about the potential problems coming to ExpressJet? Just curious.

I understand that it APPEARS to be extremely glamorous to fly an RJ, but I really think that you low time guys should go learn to fly an airplane first(and I don't mean sitting right seat in a seminole at ATP). Try 135; you will actually fly the airplane, learn weather and how to fly it, and build character that will last you a lifetime. More importantly, it will humble you so you don't walk around the terminal like you are Lt. Pete Mitchell (ie Maverick)

Great advice! 135 freight is a great experience builder and a way to humble the cockiest of pilots. I'll admit when I got my first 135 gig, I thought I was the next Yeager. It only took two engine failures, uncontrolled loss of altitude due to icing that the deice boots couldn't keep up with, and a good friend (flying 135 freight) dying in an airplane. While not much compared to a 20 – 30 year career in flight, it was a lot of pucker time for a relatively new pilot with only around 2500 hours at the end of it all.

When I was done with my 135 stint, I left with three things that I was thankful for, my life, great flight experience, and knowing humility as a pilot.

Yes. 25% of ExpressJet's airplanes will not be flown under the CAL colors starting in 2007....however, ExpressJet will be flying those airplanes in other areas. They are upgrading and hiring 32 pilots per month at least through the end of the year so anyone interested in applying shouldn't be concerned about being furloughed.
