Default Time you were hired with at your 121 carrier?

If this poll has already been done before, then fine, post a link to it, but with the new legislation about to be passed, I think this is a good time set up a new poll.

How many of you were hired with less than 1,500 total time?

I for one was hired by a Regional with 600 TT, 100 ME thru a “bridge” program from ERAU. I flight instructed for only a few months before heading to the program and got on with 3 hours of actual IMC. Out of the Sim, I was flying a turboprop on the east coast right in time for the winter of 2002-2003 (it shut down DC and parts of the east coast for days) in conditions consistently as bad and worse than the Buffalo accident as many of you reading this have too and have gone on to a successful airline career.

Yea, I know I spelled Log with 2 g's woops. Sorry.

Hi!

I had my ATP-MEL, and about 550 ME Jet. I could not even get an interview with close to 100 aviation organizations (including airlines).

I was hired with about 1700 by my first -121, and was furloughed before IOE, and so my 2nd Part 121 airline hired me with the same number of hours.

the real question is how much and when, the numbers will be skewed and not represent the direction of hiring. The direction is of late, they were hiring lower and lower time pilots, eagle was even paying to send applicants to do sim training so they'd have a better chance of passing training.

What are you wanting to find out?

I was exactly average in my indoc. class at my first 121 gig with an ATP, 7,500+ TT, 6,200 ME, 3,300 Jet. That made me average, and on line it made me junior.

I'm really shocked by what has happened since, and even more so by how entitled some people feel.

actually my 1st 121 gig was a DC3 operator that hired me with 520hrs TT,11ME,and 8.5 tailwheel, it was love at first flight, my first jet 121, was the 727,and I had 9500 hours total time for that job, with 8000 pic, and my FE written passed. I had 40 hours of turbine, and no jet time when I first flew the 727,I still smile when I think of that true jet.

I was hired with 2600 TT, 1600 ME, 2400 PIC, and 0 turbine. Generally I fly with captains that have less TT than me.

Superpilot92, you are absolutely right, your hiring time is solely based on the market at that time, like I said I was hired in 09/02.

And 3XLoser, what am I trying to find out? It’s a simple poll for curiosity! Fer Pete’s sake! Calm down, and congrats on your high time you were hired with, you get a star! And sucks for you that's all.

Pilots were hired into ab-intio training back in the 60’s and UAL was advertising in the newspaper for pilots back then, by the 80’s even you, 3XLoser couldn’t have landed a job (well you could have but chances are your airline would have tanked, not that you were involved, that the number of airlines that started and failed during the intial flurry after de-reg didn't end well in the long run, 'cept LUV). So it’s market timing and forces, now back to the poll…

I believe I had just over 1600 total time and about 220 multi when I was hired at the regionals. No turbine time.

The company I was working for added a 121 certificate in 1984. I had 3600 hours, 2200 were PIC with another 500 as CFI. It was all recip but that's all they flew. Got my ATP with the checkout in the "new" equipment (it was only 40 years old.)

A more interesting way of looking at stuff might be "How long were you flying for a living before you got a 121 job?" Four and a half years.
