Default Mesa Loses Dash 8 Flying

All,
Today, United Airlines exercised its right not to extend Mesa’s Dash-8 turboprop agreement beyond April 30, 2010.
We plan to work with United to remove these ten aircraft from service on a schedule which insures a smooth transition, but we do not expect to operate them for United, after April 30, 2010.
We are currently reviewing possible alternatives for these aircraft as well as staffing options in the event we are not successful in placing them elsewhere.
We will communicate our plans to you as quickly as we can.
While this news is disappointing, I urge you to please continue your efforts to help us operate safely, dependably and efficiently.
You can and do make a difference and your efforts are sincerely appreciated

Mesa Announces Termination of Turboprop Aircraft Service

PHOENIX, Oct. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MESA AIR GROUP, INC. (Nasdaq: MESA - News) today announced that United Airlines has exercised its early termination rights for Mesa's operation of 10 Dash-8 turboprop aircraft under Mesa's code-share agreement with United Airlines. Mesa plans to work with United Airlines on an orderly transition plan, but, in any event, the date of exit from service is expected to be no later than April 30, 2010.

Maybe Colgan? THey do have the Q400s and already flies United EXpress(Although it's with Saabs340Bs)

How about Lynx? We're already in Denver. And BB needs a reason to keep the Qs. Either we grow or the Qs go.

6 months isnt a long time. they already know who will be doing this flying. Word is that they are not going to be using props fof most of the replacement.

Lynx too already has the Aspen qualification and Depress Routing Approval. However it would be just irresponsible for United to put a bunch of flat land pilots into the mountains with little more than a "good luck." They might just do it then... Congrats Colgan.

And perhaps the remainder will simply be accounted for by a service reduction.
