Oh TSA, you make me feel so warm and fuzzy sometimes. Reserve for two years? They've got until the end of June to prove there's something in the works, otherwise its:

A good friend of mine was one of Trans States line check airmen until the end of 2010. He left to fly for JetBlue, but remained good friends with many of the people with whom he flew there. I thought I remembered him telling me last October 2011 or so that TSA furloughed 25. Is my memory correct? The reason it stood out to me is because he made the point 25 wasn't a big number, but it was 10% of the TSA workforce.

Yeah man, it was something like 25-30. Everyone's been recalled since and only a few saps took it (myself included). At this point, I've come to accept the fact that I'm probably gonna have to bite the bullet and start over somewhere else. At least my relative seniority will be about the same
My quest for an airline job has been Quixotic at best so it would have been devastating to finally make it only to be furloughed a few months later.

I think he means he interviewed WITH some good people?
Wowza. 2 years on reserve. Bad sales pitch indeed. What kinda time do you have? Are you going to accept and what would your class date be? I'm sure all of us are more than willing to help y'all out too if you do take the class...

Eagle was hiring through November and furloughed in April. Welcome to the highly volatile nature of the aviation industry where things can make an abrupt 180 in a matter of seconds. I always love when people say "Come to my regional airline, life is SOO much better." Things change way to quickly for that.

In my 13 years at Eagle we have furloughed four times. Each of those four times we have hired right up to the day we let people go. Hire 'till you furlough is apparently the slogan at Eagle. Good luck to us all.
