When I started at TSA we had 52 airplanes. We went down to 22 airplanes almost overnight. When we had 168 pilots on furlough. We won a bid for 33 airplanes for UAL and sent recall letters to all pilots. Expressjet (your company, not you) decided to under bid us at a loss. Just to take less of a loss from all the airplanes sitting around after the failed attempt of your branded flying. Not your pilot groups doing, but your company, the bid was won. We had to tell all those pilots never mind on the recall. Once again, not any pilots fault. The companies are going to battle for flying. But either way I thought you guys were trading 145 for 175? So if thats the case yes, we are happy to take the scraps. We are not excited if we were robbing jobs. But, if you want to play that game. Expressjet robbed many jobs from TSA pilots when we won that bid. At that time Expressjet didn't even fly for United. Yet they dicided to under bid us after we were awarded the contract just to cut some of their losses. Regional companies are going to battle. The pilot groups shouldn't.

That is a little creative history there. Transtates didn't win that bid 4 years ago. They were anticipating winning the bid but United was playing dirty pool. Your management told the pilots that they had "won" the contract but that wasn't true. United whipsaws regionals against each other, it was dirty pool when Skywest was brought in to negotiate against XJT a few years ago, and it is the same game today but Transtates is now the being used to whipsaw Skywest into doing its flying cheaper. This isn't the pilots fault but no one owns the flying or has "won" any contract for any career worthy amount of time. This is why the regionals aren't sustainable. There will always be a company ready to do it cheaper. Don't blame xjt...this is United's game and the pilots are just cannon fodder.
Right now the group that decides who flies what at the regional level is telling every airline "we really want you to do this but we need it for X amount cheaper." Then they go to the next regional "we really want you guys but transtates can do it for X." You guys might very well get some flying but you also might just be being used... like last time.
