I wouldn't make a routine habit out of being late. Whether or not SAD's ”matter”, you are still expected to be at work relatively close to on time, and you are still a probie... If you aren't going to be on time, make it a rare event, and for pete's sake don't be like the guy in DEN who is getting a rep for never showing up more than 10 minutes prior to departure without so much as an apology or explanation! All that being said, it is relatively infrequent for a callout to be right at the two hour mark, usually you do have more notice. Be warned, occasionally they cut down your 45 minute prep time to give you the two hours without delaying departure. Honesty with the company and courtesy with your crew is the best policy, never commit to less than the two hour fallout, if you get stuck in traffic let them know, and as others have said, have them patch you through to the captain so they can anticipate and prep the flight.

When you get assigned a base out of training, could you change it every month when a new bid comes out? Not that it would be a good idea, just wondering how often you can swap bases assuming you can hold it. Thanks

As often as you want. They award base transfers to the most senior person on the 'list' who is bidding it. Unfortunately the numbers on the list don't really mean anything. There can be 30 openings in a base and they only run an upgrade class of 5 with no explanation as to why.

Assuming you actually keep bidding bases that they actually do keep moving pilots into you could transfer once every month.

Hiring Update:

This week in ground school we had the recruitment team come in and ask for the names of anyone we knew who wanted to work for SkyWest. It was an unprecedented move in my 6.5 years here. Talking to a couple of guys I know on the interview team it appears they are having a large number of no shows for interviews. It was my understanding we were supposed to have 20 in class for our EMB new hire/upgrade class and we only have 16. Good luck to those with a scheduled interview and those trying to get one. Sounds like we are in need of applicants.

Thats pretty amazing they are sending recruiters into class. I think moving up 25 a month is a pretty brisk pace for the hiring department.
