At least 2 new hires into the 175 June 30th. The next class or two after that will be mostly new hires. After they announce SFO or DEN opening as a base, there will be no new hires into the 175 until both bases are full. If Skywest doesn't open SFO or DEN, expect 175 ORD new hire classes until ORD is full. There is a chance for you to end up in SFO on the 175 if the aircraft is not warmly received by SFO FOs and therefore goes real junior. Roll the dice and good luck.

CRJ will be your best bet. The Brasilia is pretty uncertain and the E175 may be even more uncertain. No one has announced when SFO will open and no one knows how senior it will go. It's all just speculation. We can tell you today exactly how senior SFO is on the CRJ and exactly how many people have bids in to transfer to SFO. My advice would be to try to get a CRJ class and skip the E175.

Do you folks flying the line ever feel like the whole aircraft/base/line thing is like a game of 3-card monte? It feels like that, reading these forums sometimes...!

That's how the airlines are in general. The only constant is change especially at the regional level. If you lose one contract it causes a year or more of no hiring, upgrades or movement. Even when things are going well there isn't much movement in senior bases. There have been people with bids in for SLC, PDX and SEA for years who aren't even close to getting their transfer to be able to live in base.

Absolutely! It's supposed to be that way. Regional pilots who get comfortable tend to stick around and get expensive. They want to keep you on your, toes and make sure you stay awake at night worrying about your family's long-term security.

I guess this talk of the 175 raises a couple of questions with me - for the current SkyWest pilots - has the company stated officially that the 175 will be based in Denver? Also, I know the current policy is for 175 guys to NOT have DAL privileges, what is the reason for that? Any chance that will change?
Thanks!
Thanks!

And until we fly the E-175 for Delta, they will claim those pilots are only certified to fly flights for United. Kinda makes sense.

Any thoughts on being a new-hire, going into the 175, with the goal of being based in DEN? Are there disadvantages to being a new-hire in a new aircraft? Are there advantages?

Seems kinda like the junior new hire positions are ORD based E175 or MSP based CRJ? Am I wrong? Which of those two is the quickest to hold a line and will get you the best QOL? I'm unattached to any base, I'll move wherever I need to be. I just want to get off reserve ASAP.
In other words, if you're a new hire, with the above in mind and are offered the choice...which are you taking?
