Default Jumping from 9E/XJ/9L to Skywest

Is anyone from 9E/XJ/9L leaving to go over to Skywest? After this first round of realignment, things are looking pretty bad. I can't imagine how it will be after round 2 & 3 of this process.

Skywest is hiring and look to be one of the better regionals. Any input is appreciated.

Skywest may look good now, but what about tomorrow or the next day. Delta or United can take some RJ's aways from them just as easy as the next regional. Look at ASA.

If you live or want to live in one of SkyWest bases, then go.. If only because things look bad there. Then stay... I left Eagle after 6 years for SkyWest. Been here 7.. Best thing i did for me.. But i lived in a skw base... If i would have stayed at Eagle (and at the time things looked realy bad at Eagle) i would be well off.. But im glad i am were i am... Leson is you don't know what the future holds. Good luck!

I don't understand why one list is such a great thing? It just majorly screwed the pncl pilots. Skywestis growing while xjt and as a are shrinking. After the xj/colgan senkrity grab at pncl and the rah senority grab at frontier why on earth would the skywest guys want t shoot themselves in the face?

But to the ops question unless you think any move would be better in the long run don't leave and if you do a lateral move go to eagle becaus you'll be at aa guaranteed.

It's an arbitrated list. To call it a seniority grab is disingenuous. Winning the lotto, yes, but not a grab.

It seems like you're about...what, 3-5 months in? If you can handle the pay cut and would rather be based in one of their junior bases, then why not? I'm only a very, very little bit higher than you on the list, and I got the call from SkyWest last week. I weighed the pros and the cons, and it didn't make since to me to give up 6 months of seniority to take a pretty substantial pay cut and start the first year pay clock all over again. I have a lot of friends at SkyWest who are happy there, but I personally just couldn't justify it. And I want to be based on the east coast eventually, so... The way I saw it, by the time you would go through training at SkyWest and start on the line, it'd be end of the year or even early next year, which is right around when the last round of displacements is over, which, if there's as much movement as everyone predicts everywhere next year, then normal hiring will resume and this will just be a speed bump in the past. It's a 6 month stunting of your movement on the list. The sky is hardly falling.

The good news here is that we still have a job. The fact that we can absorb these displacements without furloughing (so far, knock on wood) is a lot better than it's been at other places. Everyone's freaking out about the ISL and these displacements and many have very legitimate arguments, but I've made it a point to keep my mouth shut, because the truth is, it doesn't affect those of us at the bottom of the list that much just yet. Our pay is the same regardless of our aircraft, and we didn't lose any relative seniority or get downgraded. We're on reserve a little bit longer. Maybe it'll take you a bit longer to get into the base you want. Those are my two biggest complaints and they're relatively benign. I have 150ish people below me after 6 months. Granted only 4 are on my aircraft, but there are worse positions to be in.
