Its a bet hedge. The only thing the aircraft orders does in secure the future of INC. as an aircraft leasing company.

The camel is in the tent and the mainline pilots are doing their damnedest to eliminate the RJ's. However, there will always be feeder flying. From the days of the non-aligned commuters before the express explosion in the late 80's to the current day agreements. There is a need for certain sectors flown with commuter pilots.
For those of you that think you are going to get a free pass to mainline just because the 50 seater is eliminated, don't hold your breath. The company can be very selective and your poor attitudes and work ethic will no doubt follow you to your interview.
In the meantime you guys should work on trying to run that rag-tag operation you call an airline as it falls apart. If you can't do the flying you have agreed to then someone at your company needs to say "uncle". The passengers don't deserve to be scheduled on your airline.

ExpressJet is no gem, but mainline United certainly isn't at the top of the pack. Unless you're talking about delayed flights and customer complaints. United is a mess as whole and trying to blame it on regional feed is absurd. How about y'all get your house in order before you start casting shade on other carriers.
I do hope United can recognize the failings of express jet, bring some flying back to the mainline and make sure we don't hire from express jet pilot group.

Our house or passenger satisfaction is a direct correlation to the abysmal express product and the flying it performs. When express touches over half the passengers we carry the burden falls on them quite often.

And good luck with that last part

How do think the layoffs would occur especially since it will have been one company for 4-5 years. Seems like the company wouldn’t be able to lay off an xjt 2011 hire and keep a 2014 ASA hire.

I have great respect for you for voting against the current RJ scope. Instead of coming here and flame-bating/trolling, try to make a real change! I am pretty confident that if mainline pilots will start a movement to revert the current RJ scope, regional pilots will be your biggest supporters!

The most common thing I hear in Atlanta is "I wish we never bought XJT". It's time to cut them loose. They are like a cancerous tumor.

Going to guess I have been in the industry longer than you. The choices and and how the RJ scope vote was presented to us and how it has been implemented are two different things. I agree we should not have allowed RJ's. In fact I still have a "RJ UA" sticker on the flight bag that sits in my office. My vote didn't out weigh all the others.
