I'd like to revisit this Mouthy Moutherson.

Who was it in the Delta Clairvoyance Dept. that was in charge of predicting exactly who on the seniority list was going to bid to fly it, what the sick/fatigue call rate was going to be from flight and cabin crew not used to 5 legs/day, and how many TO THE DIME empty seats were going to be flown around in cities that just cant support the 30 extra seats every leg?
And... why isnt that person just buying lottery tickets?

Initials will be fine.

Let's not forget that they didn't take into consideration that ASA did naps to most of these cities which resulted more often in on time departures in the morning even if the flight was late the night before. Delta is taking "crew rest" delays in the morning because they don't do naps/CDOs. Delta management and DALPA are now floating the idea of doing naps/CDOs, but sounds like most of their pilots aren't going for it.

Does that involve DA using Astroglide?

This isn't hard to reason or understand whatsoever, so I have no idea why you need further explanation, but I'll follow up. With that being said: Here are the facts:

1: You are not a Delta employee...therefore:
2: You are not directly involved with network planning, fleet planning, or any sort of financial planning at Delta...meaning:
3: You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about.
4: Even if you are a Delta employee, you still have no clue what you're talking about.

In addition: Delta Air Lines has a set pay scale for both CAs and FOs on the 717, so they can predict ALL crew costs to the dime in terms of block hours (and potential overblock) given to them by network. If the aircraft goes to more senior pilots, they have the numbers to adjust. So what if they fly all around the country with 30+ seats open on the 717...they make up for that elsewhere, just as all airlines do. The 717 isn't going anywhere, and Delta is smart enough to have ran every possible financial scenario before getting the OK to make the deal with SWA.

One last thing: All of the above is predicated on a mathematical method commonly referring to as "statistics."
