Section 25.P.2

Captains Flying as First Officers

a. A reserve captain may be required to fly as a first officer if no
reserve first officers are available to fly an assignment.

b. If both crewmembers are on reserve, the more senior reserve
(by pilot system seniority) will designate who will be captain and
first officer.

c. If the other crewmember is a lineholder, he will be the captain.

d. A reserve captain will not be required to fly more than 20 hours
as a first officer in a month.

e. The pilot will be paid and credited as a captain for the first
officer assignment.

f. A pilot retains the responsibility to determine if an assignment is
safe, and may reasonably refuse an assignment to fly as first officer.
FWIW, this is already in the L-XJT contract. BS yes, but it's in there.

Joe Merchant is wasting his breath trying to convince us to vote yes since he pledged months ago to vote yes for anything. That makes his opinion on the specifics irrelevant. He would have voted yes anyhow.

I'm voting no. This is insulting. I calculate a 20% loss in direct pay over the life of the contract. And I hope nobody like to go grab a beer on the overnight... that's one of the few remaining perks of this job. Now you'll check your messages at the bar at 2300 and find out your 1500 show has become 0900. And you're disciplined if you don't self notify and accept it.

And I'll really enjoy being an FO for John R, Art, and Linda when I go back on reserve thanks to the 10% min res with no penalties, but no max. Read between the lines there folks... I predict 30% of the company becomes the new norm.

No vote from me. Go ahead and shut it down if this is the best you can do. You don't deserve to run an airline.

Captain Tony, I've flown with all 3. It helps prepare for the TMAAT questions at other airlines.

This should cause an automatic NO vote from any captain currently on reserve or anyone hoping to upgrade any time soon. Right now, if the company can't find anything for me to do in the left seat of a 200, to the house I go. If this BS passes, I know scheduling will definitely find me something to do each and every time I think I'm going home, especially as new hires get harder to come by.

I was a fence sitter until I realized this little gem in the TA does more damage to my QOL as a reserve captain than all others combined.

Count me as a definite NO!

So I can't find any mention of GDOs for reserve so I assume they were given away. Haha as if I needed more reasons to vote no...

They're still there but they've been cut back. Now you only get one block of GDO's that you have to beg scheduling for. I thought reserve QOL was supposed to get BETTER under this TA... They gave us a few tidbits in hopes we wouldn't notice the fact that they hit us where it really hurts.

After reading the TA, I'm willing to call the company's bluff and vote NO. They're going to shrink us no matter how we vote with the draw down of 50 seaters so I'm not buying into the whole doom and gloom pitch.

I was under the impression the reserve section would be improved. Guess I should have known better.
