The current mgmt team at expressjet which was put into place by Skywest is horrible. The mistakes they make day in/out is comical. It is clear that they never planned on running a company from the beginning and just blaming the work groups for their failure of leadership.

The conference call reeked of desperation.

Almost all of the analysts questions were dodged or answered with big, fancy, but meaningless words. I was astounded how the analysts were like "great, thanks for that information" when the answer was substantially meaningless! All I came away from it with was that Inc. is in over their heads, has no plan other than hope, and the BOD is losing patience.

Desperation?

More like frustrated and ready to cut their losses.

Desperation that they can't simply "cut their losses" as much as they'd like to. The BOD and shareholders aren't going to let them simply tank a 500 million dollar investment. ExpressJet is 60% of SkyWest Inc. I know the trendy rhetoric from skyWest Airlines is "ha ha, throw out the bad apples", and I'm sure they'd like to, but it's just not that simple. They're going to have to come up with a real plan to settle these contracts and eliminate operational inefficiencies (also known as reform in A-Tech, specifically OCC). If they don't, the future of SkyWest, Inc is not bright. Unfortunately, they have no clue how they're going to do this.

Yes, I'd call that desperation.

I completely agree. I truly believe it is in Skywests best interest to merge all three together now and work with the employees instead of fighting us. If we remain independent, Brad Holt is the next to go and whoever replaces him will come in and clean house with the old ASA and XJT management. We have managers sending out emails to the ENTIRE company without proof reading, wrong information, and two lines of text on an attached PDF because they don't know how to copy and paste. It is lazy, dumb, and ineffective.

Everything is being done half assed or not at all but they keep coming up with management 101 talking points like "focus groups", "frontline feedback channels", "employee involvement teams", etc... and all they are doing is shuffling people unfit for a managerial task around the office. The lady who completely screwed up training travel got a promotion and more responsibility.

I say we get rid of ALPA, merge with skw and form a better union. How will this all happen? Just close your eyes and take a deep breath.

Yes, just close your eyes, click your heels, and surely that will happen.

Getting rid of ALPA won't solve our problems. It will give management more power to hide their incompetence because they will no longer have to answer to anyone but the SKYW BOD.

Forming an independent union is a lengthy and expensive proposition. If you're serious about it, interview some people involved with USAPA and research their lack of results. All while paying 5% dues! An independent certified bargaining agent is something worth looking into post merger, but would be a tragic distraction before we get this contract done.
