No one even mentioned PDT except you and the discussion was that PSA would be an easy transition 'IF' AAG bought AWAC.

The doors here aren't going to just be chained shut. Almost every regional out there could use 700+ pilots. Who isn't having issues recruiting in this environment? If you can guarantee that most of your growth goal is met by one acquisition (probably a cheap one at that), why wouldnt you explore that instead of hoping that if an airline closed down that some percentage of them MIGHT go to a company you want to grow?

Like I said earlier, this might not happen. Hell, we could announce new 767 flying for amazon tomorrow. None of us knows what will happen... However, Billy, I'll bet you one adult beverage that we don't just close down. We'll either be merged, acquired or stay in business past this contract.
I definitely don't think AWAC will have it's doors closed so I won't bet you on that one. But I will tell you that if you are acquired then you'll probably take concessions. Then what? Do you take them or stand firm? Envoy is overstaffed but that will change really soon. PSA isn't doing to bad. Piedmont is a different story because I'm not sure if they can handle all the change going on. That's why I figured a AWAC/Piedmont thingy might be better.

I'm just going by what happened at Piedmont and it seems to be close to the same situation. We had a senior group, old planes and senior guys that weren't going anywhere because they were making great money and had a good schedule plus a nice vacation bidding (many like me were even living in base loving it) and a upgrade time of over 5 years. Sound familiar to you? Then we started having FO's leaving and nobody wanting to come here. Sound familiar? We had Captains flying with Captains everywhere. Have you guys got to that point yet? If not then you guys are better off then what we were 7 years ago.

AWAC like Piedmont were probably 2 of the better regionals for a long time. Honestly I'd like to see something done. Both Companies fly in the Northeast for American. Bases will soon be much the same also.

I agree PSA would make more sense, but then again it would make sense also on the Piedmont side as they are gearing for tons of growth this year.

I can't believe we are actually talking about a merger seriously here

AWAC would crush any of them with DOH now. The flow has flushed the top of the seniority of all 3 WO'ed which is what it was intended for doing.

I heard it's BAe-146 flying actually. ATW is reopening for a soon-to-be announced Amazon distribution center and the old 146s are being brought out of the desert as we speak. An announcement is imminent.

I love you Saab, you are my hero! Don't crush my dreams though! Maybe we will announce 777 flying soon...

I actually think there is flying in the works (call me crazy). However, if there isn't, AWAC is privately owned, pretty sure those guys will sell the pilots at a huge discount just to make a few extra bucks rather than shutting the doors and getting nothing.

Time will tell I guess. To answer your questions though, if AWAC closed its doors, I would apply at all of the LCCs before even thinking of going to another regional (which I have avoided because I only want to change jobs one more time). And, just my opinion, but if it was an acquisition vs a merge, i believe that a new contract would be reached. Too senior here for a lot of guys to go from 100k plus with their choice of schedules to having nothing...

How is AA working out for you?

I agree.
AA is AA. I think we all get to a point in this career that an airplane is airplane and city is a city. The most fun I had in Aviation is at the Regional level. First 3 years at Piedmont were INCREDIBLE!
Now my favorite over night is my house. Now instead of wanting to fly we are looking to get the most days off. Things change. Guess the best part is looking for Job Security. Safe to say AA shouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon.
Good Luck.

I cringe thinking about the effects of the collective orgasm of top quarter of our seniority list if the 146 came back.

Quarter? Try top 5%. The number of folks who flew left seat on the 146 are a few dozen, tops. Most of them have been retiring or their retirement is coming soon. Only the top 25% were even at AWAC when the BAe-146 was still in operation here.

Also, anyone who thinks the leaders of any company will have a heart in this industry is delusional. They won't think twice about shutting any place down if that's what creates lower costs/higher profit. Look at Comair. That was a wholly owned company, but it's gone and those senior pilots and F/As were left in the cold. Delta could have scavenged them for their own classes and they didn't.

I hope AWAC has a long and prosperous future.
