500 is preferred but they have hired with just over 100 multi. The street captain number we heard was 30 but that's just rumor. The fleet is expected to be 9 aircraft but who knows. There is way to many rumors and it seems like we are still spinning our wheels with nothing happening. One thing is for sure if they wait too long for the aircraft replacement someone else is going to come into Hawaii and the chances of growth will dwindle.

Unfortunately the history of Island Air is full of missed opportunities. It broke my heart every time it happened. They could be a great airline but I feel that inept management and poor funding have been a cancer on them. I hope that Casey can turn it around. If not? Some one else will step in and put the nail in their coffin.
Cheers

"..... the 78-seat Q400, which Island Air flew briefly in 2006, and the ATR-600, which seats from 64 to 70 passengers depending on configuration, are possibilities, according to a person familiar with the situation. Casey said the company’s analysis would include what to do with the existing fleet of ATR 72s."
