The Insanity of Concessions in 2014

I'm one of them; there were family reasons I went there that changed, and career-wise it made sense to go to make the lateral move to PSA. Everyone has their reasons, the point I'm making is it's unrealistic to not expect people to act in their personal best interest.
There's not a ton of 1500 types but there's plenty of ex-Comair, ATA, Endeavor, etc

And it mentioned Asian carriers, and how not a lot of U.S.pilots want fly for them. That is changing as the wages skyrocket and those carriers add U.S.pilot bases.

As a pilot employee, we are turning away new customers, and turning away additional business from existing customers, due lack of pilots and lack of planes...can't get new planes if we don't have the staffing.

I read the article. I would call it "Truth" rather than "Propaganda". It covered a wide variety of airlines including the worries at Delta and SWA about future pilot hiring.

I flew for one of the top foreign carriers that had US bases. In fact I was on the base the whole time I was there. Not only did I leave to come back to the US, but I can assure you there are plenty of guys looking to come back home, even those on the bases. Plenty.

KAL, NCA, Jet (India) has JFK 777 capt bases, China (Eastern?/Southern?) Has SEA -330 capt bases, another Chinese carrier has US capt bases for a specific airframe. Etihad allows some captains to commute.
I think that Asian/ME carriers will implement U.S.pilot bases as their hiring situation deteriorates.
Two Chinese carriers started hiring expat FOs last summer...first time China has allowed expat FOs.

TSA being affected by the pilot shortage:

Not a new guy to management tactics. My 4th rodeo, but K2 came in to new hire class and said that negotiation open later this year, but that upper management want the contract done by fall.*
I dont believe him, but its the rumor they want spread.

I don't make it a habit to trust management.* That being said, if you look at this from the outside looking in, a labor dispute in the middle of trying to hire 600 pilots will not be good for business.* They know they are competing against PSA, Mesa, and Envoy with shiny new airplanes and/or flow-throughs.* They saw what bad labor relations are/were doing to places like Envoy and Expressjet.* More people leaving than coming on board.* When you're trying to triple the size of your airline, quick and dirty is the best way.
