Default Wow, some powerful articles in the news

I haven't seen this many articles detailing the plight of regional airline pilots in a long time. All of these articles are the result of the American Eagle vote. This vote by AE MEC and pilots is having a major impact in the news.

What Can New Pilots Make? Near Minimum Wage - Yahoo Finance
Silver, AE, Colgan, GLA, and Republic all mentioned by name. It was co-written by two people from over at WSJ and in my opinion, they did a pretty good job of writing it.

"Something's going to [have to] change in the relationship between the majors and the regionals," said Jonathan Kletzel, a transportation consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.

I don't think Mr. Kletzel meant to have [have to] inserted into his statement. The author(s) should have left it as is since it's more accurate.

The fact that the name American is attached to the companys name will probably garner much more attention and criticism than ExpressJet, republic or Any other not well known regional carriers.
I'm sure the non informed public thinks American Eagle pilots make the most just because of the name...

"We have absolutely no ability to attract résumés" from pilots with 1,500 hours of flight time, said Doug Voss, chairman of Great Lakes, whose pilot salaries start at around $16,500 a year.
Of course you don't!!! Not when you're paying them $16K per year!! There are enough pilots, qualified pilots, out there but they are not willing to work for these kind of salaries. Simple as that.

The uninformed public thinks that people who work at American Eagle work in a mall.

This is 100% accurate, I don't even tell people I work at Eagle anymore simply because of this response.

I hope you are not one of the many regional pilots who tell people they work for their mainline partner and not for the actual regional airline. They will say "People dont know who XXXX airline is, so I just keep it easy and say I work for (Insert Legacy) Airline. We all know these pilots, some even have the nerve to wear a lanyard with the legacy airline on it.

If you want the flying public to start becoming aware of the 2nd class wages at regionals, stop blurring the line between the two when dealing with passengers. Management already spends so much time and $$ trying to present the passenger with the illusion that regionals dont exist, dont help them with the "Thanks for flying United" PAs or "Yeah, I fly a CRJ 900 for Delta" lies. Tell people you work for American Eagle, does it really hurt that bad if someone asks if it is the clothing store?

Not saying this is you, but your post reminded me of something we/I see everyday
