But PSA has announced that all 30 of their new CRJ900's (plus 40 options) will be based in CLT and will replace the Mesa CRJ900's, currently based in CLT.

Those Mesa 900's are still going to be in the AA/US system feed. They just won't be feeding AA/US out of CLT.

A shrinking envoy 140/145 base in DFW seems like the perfect place for AA/US to deploy the Mesa 900's. If this guy wants to based in DFW, he should be checking out Mesa.

I can confirm the opening of the DFW base for Mesa.

I won't argue with you there, and everything you say stands to reason and seems probable. But I am saying to him is that until it's announced or the airplanes show up in DFW it's all rumor and/or speculation. I've heard and seen too many times people be VERY confident in their predictions and it never happens.

I understand that Envoy's future is questionable, but I live in DFW and am considering applying. I'm hoping that someone can answer a few new-hire type questions:

Is it possible to hold DFW out of training? If not, what's the junior base and how long would you guess it would take to get back to DFW?

Are new hire's going to the EMB or CRJ?

Do they pay per diem during training?

Any estimate on how long it would take to get off of reserve?

How long for insurance and travel benefits?

Is there any reason at all to be optimistic about Envoy's future?

Any other info would be appreciated!

As mentioned, I am fully aware of Envoy's situation but I want to explore the local option - I've been a commuter before, and would rather not do it again.

Thanks!
The real problem with chasing a base is that it's not always guaranteed to be there. I came to Eagle for the LAX base which no longer exists. Mesa is closing their CLT base, we've lost San Juan recently, etc.

Mesa may or may not be opening a DFW base soon, we probably won't be closing our DFW base but it's certainly possible. ExpressJet has a DFW base, no idea how senior it is but their contract is better than ours and they're stagnant but no more stagnant than we are.

Do what you think is best but I honestly cannot give you anything positive to come here to Envoy. Our contract is average, movement is non existent, future is unclear, management is aggressive and angry, schedules keep getting worse, and the morale is as low as I've seen it in 3.5 years.

Good luck to you.

I did 2.5 years and with the way things are shrinking I can't imagine anyone would see a line much sooner.

Hmm... perhaps I won't cancel that upcoming Republic interview. However I am new to the 121 world, is reserve really that bad? From what I understand you sit there and wait to see if they need you. Can anyone shed some light for me?

Things change rapidly in this environment. Some here at Envoy have been stuck on Reserve because we have been waiting for some news just as long.

Whenever movement starts up again-and it has already begun with the AA flowthroughs-Reserve/upgrade times will change.

Only a fool would consider an otherwise crappy Regional because maybe you will upgrade in 2 years...and maybe they will open a base you want. Ask around. Too many people have been burned in the past 12 years chasing upgrades and places like Great Lakes and other so called "bottom feeders".

Parker (AA CEO) has publically said he wants all flying done "in house" including Envoy. They are just posturing to see if they can get some concessions out of us...and in the mean time 20 aircraft to Compass buys them a little time.

Envoy most certainly HAS a future. It also most certainly has the base you want. Once you start chasing fictitious promises all over the Regional industry than you have lost before even beginning.
