RAH new hire questions

That's old information. LOA8 that raised pay has the next increase on December 1st, 2015 and it's only 1%.

Not close to even reopening negotiations. The company isn't returning the union's phone calls. Plus depending on the results of this month's union election, the negotiating committee may turn over again and have to start over.

Well, if enough people penciled in Mickey mouse as I did, there will be a new governing board shortly. As far as the NC goes, BW has a good BUSINESS sense; the others don't impress me much. Although they are much better than the corruption that was the last bunch. Those peops should be indicted on fraud charges.

Take one read at our payday updates and you'll get a pretty crystal clear picture of how interested RAH management is at coming back to the table or even entertaining renewed negotiations. After PDT and PSA, I dont see things changing around here for quite some time.

only reason to even remotely consider coming here is if you live in base. this career and especially a place like RAH is not worth living in some other part of the country and dealing with crash pads and commuting. Cannot emphasize that enough. The pay and work rules here lag pretty much every other comparable regional and it rears its head daily in both your QOL and your biweekly paychecks. Dont be fooled either with the announcement of added planes for United. With the parking of CHQ planes and the Qs, there is no upgrade in sight, especially when compared to other regionals at the moment.

Maybe another 15-20 are yet to arrive for AA, and 50 for United. There are 47 options from the AA order and another 50 from the United order. Not that options mean anything unless a new CPA is signed.
Approx 30 Q400s will leave the fleet and there are about 40 E145s in service for DL that will expire at the end of 2016. We also have 6 or so 190s coming out of service in Jan 2016, but I think staffing for those is more like 3 planes worth of pilots that would be displaced.
Attrition seems to hold steady around 30 pilots per month across all 3 certificates.
@ the original poster: The new contract is not about to happen. The current negotiating team thinks 5-7 months, but after 7 years... I'm not holding my breath.
As bad as people say it is on the forums, I think RAH is tolerable living in base. And that might be the catch. If you want EWR, you need to be offered an S5 class or a Q400 class. While it isn't 100% certain, if the United E175s come to the S5 certificate, you will be ULTRA senior within a year or two since FOs can't change between certificates. All the FOs senior to you will likely be stuck on other certificates. That all said, it's possible that the United aircraft will go to Republic and you could be stuck flying for Delta out of LGA instead of flying United out of EWR. That is a worst case scenario and I think the more likely scenario would be that the planes will go to S5.
If it were me, I'd go to RAH, tell them you want an S5 class, and don't complain when you get here (or at least complain too much). You might not be able to hold EWR right away, but worst case would be that you are in another NYC airport for a few months (and not commuting by air).
As for Commutair, it's not a bad option either, but if it were me, I'd go RAH with the knowledge that there are some problems here.

For me the answer is pretty simple. The upgrade is around 7ish years at RAH. Even if you stretched upgrade at C5 to 3 years, you're still earning more money over a 10 year period...all the while logging turbine PIC. I left a floundering CRJ operator for C5 and couldn't be happier I did. Don't be lured in by SJS. It's not all it's cracked up to be.

Capacity Purchase Agreement. The mainline carrier signs a CPA with regionals for lift.
The "options" referred to in my previous post are simply "dibs" on production slots until such time that the airline must surrender those slots or turn them into actual orders.
