I'll say outloud what myself & others at mainline are thinking: Regional FOs with no turbine PIC do not belong at mainline and should not be granted an interview.

I agree. I think the fine print said they can interview and be given a CJO based upon yadda yadda yadda. I think part of the yadda will be them upgrading 1st before they show up at Delta.

I'll say aloud what myself and others stuck in the FO ranks are thinking:

Regional FO's with no turbine PIC do EXACTLY the same job as a major FO.

True but when you become a Captain you will quickly learn the difference between a good FO and a weak or PITA FO. The difference is huge and makes very big difference in how a trip goes. You learn a huge amount of what makes a good FO once you upgrade. You do do the same job but your experience is much less due to the fact that you don't have any PIC time. Once you upgrade you will get it.

Honestly I could turn that around and say as a FO for 7 years I definitely know what the difference is between a great CA and a PITA worthless CA.... Which experience is more valuable for my future?

Exactly. Thank you for proving my point. You have learned a bunch about what makes a good Capt and what makes a bad Capt. You haven't learned yet what makes a good FO and what makes a bad FO. Kind of along the same lines as a street captain who never sat in the right seat. Would you rather fly with that Captain or one who spent some time in the right seat?

What makes a good FO then?

As someone who has upgraded, and downgraded multiple times, I can honestly say it doesn't matter. If anything, when a guy upgrades, his asshattery amplifies.
