That's good with all the upgrade classes coming up soon.

Email sent out. Contract option has been excercised until early 2018. Kicker is, small number of aircraft to be parked. No furloughs and hiring will continue.

This is EXACTLY what I told everyone would happen. There were absolutely zero signs of this place closing it down. Now you have 3 more years to see what happens. Either way anyone with decent time and experience should be gone by then. This isn't the 2000's anymore.

As for the A/C parked, its only going to be 401-405. They are our oldest birds and definitely not a bad thing to be retiring them. On a personal note they should definitely add 471 to that list. That is the biggest POS mankind has ever produced. Mx indicated we will be replacing at least some of those 5 as well. Not a huge loss.

Enjoy the rest of class and training man and welcome aboard! Your gonna like it here.

I wouldn't mind seeing a few of the a/c go away - any one of 'em with the old seats. My back twinges every time I see one of them on my pairing, especially for the whole day. There's nothing like having your butt cheek ache and leg tingle by the time you're done.

So, what will 2017 bring? Isn't that when a lot of the LUS feed comes up for renewal?

471 was acquired at a bargain rate and the intent was to only fly it for a few years to give us a bit of flexibility. It was one of two RJ airframes that the company bought; the other one was bought for essentially the cost of the engines, and was parted out. 471 was an old Blue Ridge (ACA) bird, N655BR, which I'm sure got beaten up after Johnny O got it and sent it to the Islands... then it went off to Mexico...

See my other post about old seats

Any fact behind that number of retirements? Or is that just what you're feeling?

I have done a lot of MKE overnights this past month. Had more than a few MX guys tell me that when they were over at the gate picking up the plane. Who knows for certain though.

AAG cares about cost above all else. They are making on the order of $4,000,000,000 in profit after taxes a year. AWAC's share is roughly $50,000,000 of that (or was).

Even if AWAC's costs were in line with PSA's (they aren't even close, not even looking at contract rates, things like HR are shared) AWAC would have to have a 0% margin to be at PSA's total costs. Will AWAC operate at a 0% rate?

Use the extension time wisely.

Like I said the difference between a long term deal and short term deal was what Parker could squeeze of AWAC. Thus the short term deal only to beef up PDT and PSA. Yes if I was at AWAC only for less then a year I'd start looking around.
