anything with 50 or more seats, move it to mainline.... bring over the pilots, increase pay, pilot shortage over.
If only it were so simple.

By about 2022, numbers equivalent to EVERY regional pilot will be needed to move to the majors/LCCs to fill the gap from retirements. That doesn't account for growth at the majors/LCCs.

And that is only talking about US pilot requirements...it doesn't take into account the overseas ever-increasing demand for pilots.

There simply aren't enough people in the training pipelines to fill anywhere close to all of the open cockpit positions in the future.

RJ's pay for themselves via the poor pay, and work rules at the regionals. They are not mainline airplanes, and never will be. They just simply go to the desert, and mainline will replace some of that flying with 100+ seat jets.
