Best Regional Out of Houston
#11
Hey guys, after several years of flight insructing and with an incredible amount of debt which I am planing to pass to my grand children, I'm finally done. I've got my 1500 hours and with them the opportunity to jump from Cessna to Lear or Embraer. However, the amount of marvelous comments about how good life in Regionals is, makes me to formulate this question. What's my best option out of Houston and why? Thanks for your sincere answers. I have to add that I have to live in Houston because I am married, and my wife is working in Taco Cabana as cashier (which means she is the money maker, with stable better paid job, who brings the beacon-tacos home)
If you have to stay in IAH the SkyW is really your only choice. XJet is not going to be around much longer (145 side) and it seems the life expectancy at Mesa is a toss up. It's not all roses at SkyWest but it's the only game left. Attrition is accelerating and lots of movement expected in2015-16. At the end of the year your W2 (which is what you should care about) and your QOL will be better but don't make a career out of the place. It's been said before. Get out when you can. It ain't what it used to be.
