Once Bloch expires would upgrades be more predictable?

Starting airline apps soon, better get the calculator out.

Well, about as predictable as anywhere else. This one had 25 unfilled captain secondary vacancies. This basically was a base swapping vacancy. And since Mesaba didn't have a single captain quit since the last vacancy award, everything was straight seniority in that sense, so it kind of gives better insight into what is going to happen post Bloch. That would seem that there will be a mass exodus of relatively senior (remember date of hire is meaningless here) Pinnacle and Colgan flooding back into DTW and MSP. Any reserve/junior lineholder Mesaba captains in DTW or MSP now would basically feel like street captains for a long time. As for FO's well, currently there is some upgrading, looks to be almost all Pinnacle FO's moving to reserve 200 captains. Didn't see any FO go to 900 Captain. As for a new hire, well, we have a couple hundred pilots here at the moment with CJO's at Delta. We have a few hundred more to interview, and at just over 50% overall that would be another 150 to leave... Delta seems to be picking up more FO's than they picked up of our captains though so call it 200 more to earn CJO's before the program dies. That gives enough movement to get off reserve for sure, but upgrade relies on a lot of captains that have been turned down by Delta finding work elsewhere and a good 300 captains that appear to be lifers here now retiring.

I have an question about per diem if anyone mind. Iit'll probably sound dumb. I got a CJO and accepted it earlier this week at endeavor, but how does per diem work. I know it's when your away from base but is it just paid out according to your credit time, or is it the whole time your out of base meaning at the hotel, etc?

It's paid from the time you check in for your trip till the end of the last day of the trip. So, If you start at 9AM and go to 9AM the next day. It's 24 hours of per diem. Some are taxable, some are not. If it's a "day trip" it's taxable, where trips that has overnights are not taxable.

"Our CRJ-900 operations are already full, but the route structure modifies and we’ll return to some of the ‘sun’ markets."

Anyone know what he means by sun markets?
