Im a newer hire here despite following the advice of the forum and going elsewhere. I have loved every minute and the new contract rolling out is just an added bonus if it passes. Every single pilot I have ran in to has been super friendly and ready to drop anything they're doing to help me if I have a question or need help. That goes for the same with everybody on the corporate side too. For as many pilots as we have, if I send an email to payroll, crew scheduling, etc. it is usually answered within a few hours. If you call they don't ever get ****ed off or agitated no matter how stupid the question might sound. The EFBs are nice and all the training facilities and instructors were superb.
And from every pilot Ive talked to since the LBFO rolled out, they've said they're going to vote yes if it goes to vote.

1. You said that you have loved every minute, what have you loved? Have you loved being paid half of what the market rate for a pilot is? Have you loved working for wages that have been degraded by 8 years of inflation?
2. Every pilot has been "super friendly". So what, that is not what is being negotiated. A contract that you are going to have to live with for the next 10 years is what is being negotiated, not tea party smiling.
3. Your questions have been answered. Ok, that's their job. What do you think happens at other airlines, they keep you in ignorance and watch you crash the plane. You could also have read the book and you don't need to work for half market rate to get your questions answered. Those questions being answered are not worth taking 30k a year in lower wages.
4. Your emails get answered. Again, this has nothing to do with the contract.
5. And here is the best one, "The EFBs are nice and all the training facilities and instructors were superb", wow, you got a $275 iPad and they taught you how to fly the plane. Again, this has nothing to do with evaluating a contract.
They are asking you to work for 30k to 50k per year less than the market rate for a pilot. A market that is going up fast.
They cannot find pilots to come and fly planes for what the current contracts say. The new offer gives the new guy more money and the rest get crap.
Nothing in your post had a thing to do with a contract. Pay me 30k a year and I will answer all your questions, I will go to Indy and get answers to all of your emails, I will buy you an iPad and train you "supurb"ly.
To be honest your post did not sound like a pilot's post at all and it had nothing to do with the evaluation of a contract. Go back in your cubby hole and show the real pilots a little respect.
If you are a pilot you can send me a copy of your license in a pm and I will let everyone know you are legitimate and make a public apology. Then we will just consider you naive and uninformed.

I saw some numbers today in a post about what the bottom feeder in Japan is offering pilots to go there. $102,890 for a 1st year captain and $110,090 for a second year captain (the post mistakenly said 5th year captain).
Looking at the rates in this contract it is $62100 for a first year captain.
Why would you guys consider accepting $40,790 less per year than the other airline is offering?
There are few pilots out there willing to work for a US carrier for what they want to pay. Don't accept less than the 102,890. and 110,090., tell them you have a better offer.
Every airline union needs to show these numbers to their company and tell them that they have to do better than that. It is not speculation, it is the bottom of what is being offered.

If your house has a 200k value and someone is offering you 100k should you really care that they are "super friendly"? One has nothing to do with the other. You should not care that they have brought the deed to your house, and even have a notary with them, you should not be selling your 200k house for 100k.
Do you really think MrERJ is a pilot? I certainly have my doubts.
Pilots need to know their value and they don't. It is no longer 19k a year. The market no longer says that a first year captain should make 60 an hour. The rate is at least 110 and once people come to understand this it will happen. The 110k that the Japanese airline is offering for a second year captain reflects what your value is more than what the regional has been paying you the last few years.
This offer pays a captain about 50k a year less than what the rate would be in a free market. Over 10 years that's $500,000. If you are offended because I feel you are worth $500,000 more than you think you are worth then I truly apologize!

Sounds like a great place to work. But the LBFO will change all of the above, right?

The only thing that should run through your minds when looking at this TA is it good enough? If yes - vote it If no - vote it.
The company's choice of Bankruptcy is theirs alone - don't let the fear of that dictate your actions. UAL pilots took concessions and they STILL filed bankruptcy......... Something to think about and also learn from.
