Zack is a wimp at best. He had agreed to the recall but when Sam said he won't resign, zack and victor put their tails between their legs and walked away all wet and negated their personal agreement with Dfw to recall Sam.
Yeah, a person who's word is his bond. Hahahahahahaha.

Or would I be able to get a reserve schedule that allows for me to make it home? Thanks.
When you are extremely junior it's harder to predict. When you have a little seniority on reserve you can pretty easily manipulate your schedules and set your self up for commutability on both ends 90% of the time. I have commuted on a day off maybe once this year and that was by choice because I proffered for a trip I really wanted that started early on day 1.

Even when you are junior you can usually proffer for the (fleet dependent) 11AM, 2PM or 3PM or 7PM standby shift on day 1, (nobody wants standby typically so its usually easy to get one of them) then you can commute on your work day. After that you start working your way back to morning shifts by the end of your reserve week, trying to get a trip with an early finish on your last day, 0400 RAP, or 6AM standby on the last day. Even when I was a very junior CA on RSV I could still commute in on my day 1 90% of the time and be on a plane home by 5pm, usually I was headed home on the 2:25pm though.

Once you figure out all the tricks of how to manipulate things in your favor to make this all happen it's not that bad. Just takes a little while to figure it all out. Super junior is always going to suck no matter where you work, it gets better though once you get 15-20+ people below you.

I personally prefer reserve here with our system than the current lines. Works out WAY better for me.

(ORD) RAP and STANDBY shifts you can bid for the day before, you will know between 3-5pm central the day prior to start what you are awarded, Standby shifts are 8 hours, except the latest one ends at 2359. RAPs you are on call with a 2 hour callout period.
EMB
RAP 1 =0400
RAP 2 =1000
S1- 0600
S2- 1100
S3- 1500
S4- 1900

CRJ
RAP 1=0400
RAP 2=1000
S1- 0600
S2- 1400
S3- 1500

Sooo, I guess the hits just keep on coming. Just saw another HI6 from the nazi regime in ORD that they are getting mad about crews drinking coffee at the gate. All violators will be subjected to 20 lashes. Any second offenders will be shot on sight followed by their loved ones.

Seriously? Been doing this business for 10 years and I've never heard of a rule like this anywhere.

There is misinformation going on here. It appears that the union told the company they want raises for captains too or else fos don't get them.

Pedro is pushing hard to aag finance to get us industry top pay rates FOR FIRST OFFICERS , what aag finance will give him is to be seen. That's a fact told directly to me from top envoy management. What envoy alpa is responding with is another story.

This would not be the first time in the last decade the eagle Mec ****ed away first officer pay rates trying to leverage captain rates as well.

It's about to happen again, I recommend everyone in writing email your captain reps how you feel. It's good fodder for a dfr.

Upgrade for a new hire here isn't 6-8 years. BTW.

My friend here on the CRJ as an FO has a commutable line for JUNE all but one day of the month which I think he traded out of anyway, 85 hours pay. 2.5 years seniority. Has been holding a line most of his time here. Started in NYC, then switched to ORD. It's not like it use to be 5-10 years ago for sure when seniority could get you 18-19 days off, but it's not as bad as people make it out to be, especially if you can live in base. Every regional pretty much sucks.

"...especially if you can live in base."

These are the important words. Commuting is different for everyone, dependent on geographic location, time zone and flight frequency.

Yeah I would have been fine if I had stayed on the CRJ but moving to the EMB by force displacement when the MIA base closure happened and people went to NY and then NY closed I was SOL by a few spots. Middle of the road RSV now in DFW isn't bad but I would be a line holder in ORD if I could have stayed CRJ.

This is what I have told several people, I missed a class by a couple of days and a few spots made all the difference for me to now be a line holder vs reserve still. It may not seem that way now but your number makes a difference.

What these people who are holding for the 175 fail to realize is that if they start downsizing the CRJ fleet again (which doesn't look likely right now) or downsize the 140/45 fleet (Which will happen just due to age and the 175 coming online) is, everyone that comes to the 175 will continuously keep bumping them down on the fleet.

I love seeing guys coming here but I still have no idea what people see in demanding the new plane or bust and delaying classes.

True, I have had some miserable commutes here 5+ hour domestic transcon flights doing red eyes and getting in at 5:30am just in time to start work for a 12 hour day, 1hr flights with 20+ flights a day (not bad), 2.5 hour flights, 3 hour flights and an even longer international commute many time zones away.

But it would have sucked just the same if I was commuting to Endeavor, PSA, Expressjet, Republic, Mesa, or any of them. Commuting makes this job miserable and sucks the life out of you no matter what regional you work for. None of my commuting friends at other places complain any less than we do about their company sucking. You can always tell if someone is a commuter by their job satisfaction and attitude about this place in about 2 minutes working with them. Commuters complain about everything 10x as much.

Every time I have lived in base here, everything crappy they throw at us is WAY more tolerable and you are generally at home twice as much, if not more. Any new hire looking to commute (to any airline) is asking for suck. Sure you can live where you want but you will be constantly stressed out over commutes, never home, bitter about everything, and dread going back to work because it will always feel like you JUST got home.
