What difference does it make what airplane you're on? It should be far more important which base you get. Seeing as how you live in Chicago the deciding factor should be base not airplane. I can't speak for Skywest but it's nearly a guarantee you get ORD based (if that's your choice) at Envoy regardless if it's CRJ or EMJ.
All this obsession with airplane makes no sense. What airplane you fly makes no difference at all...rather focus on career progression, base (assuming you live in base or commutability), pay, etc...lastly by a far shot should be airplane.

Well, it is a factor, at least in my case, and here is why. I have been out of aviation for a few years, just staying minimally current/reinstating currency. I have about 20 hours in a crj sim when I did flight training way back when, so it would be a familiar cockpit and make the transition back to aviation a little more easy. Obviously, the training can get anyone to learn any aircraft, but the familiarity would be nice.
As to the specifics of Envoy vs SkyWest, I'll defer to the peanut gallery, but there is something to be said for having a flow in your back pocket and good travel benefits.

It's actually easy for them to do. we are required to check our email at the end of a turn after being called into from a rap for this purpose. No email means we are released. I've never seen the email for being put back on rap so I don't know what it would say.
However we would pretty much be useless if they tried to do this with the 117 rules.

Going to the CRJ at Envoy means you'd have a high likelihood of doing initial training on another aircraft in the not too distant future, so if your concern is getting through sims, try not to put yourself through sims twice.

Bliz, the EMB is an easy plane to learn. The training guys don't expect you to build the jet anymore. Either is a good plane but after flying both here, don't worry much about the type you get assigned. Choose where you want to be first. The training depts are there to help you succeed through training and IOE. ENY has lots of resources to help you out while in Dallas for long term.

Just don't get assigned the CRJ and you're good. Knowing our archane contract and worthless union, that's what you will get and you will be stuck commuting from one base into another welcome!

As far as utilization goes the end and the beginning of months we will zero out on reserves usually. The middle of the month is a bit slower. Ready reserve sucks. It it's the place you want to be if you don't want a four day trip. Some days they don't call and the next day they call right away.
