1. First year pay right now is 23.23 an hour x 75 x 12 is 20,907 a year. Pathetic. Hopefully that will be changing soon if and when we get to see the contract extension they are negiotating. Per diem my first year was around $4000, but I had a line half the year and I like to fly a lot.
2. I think getting ATL out of training is pretty good. ATL 70/90 reserve is about 1 year 9 months right now. Thats looking at the number one guy on reserve for december. I dont know about the 200 because I'm on the 70/90.
3. The way the reserve system works is changing from the way it works right now. The 75hr bypass has moved to 85 hrs and our bucket system changed. You will be able to select either call me first or call me last. Call Me First goes in seniority order and Call me Last goes in reverse seniority order.
Reserve sucks no matter what. Obviously reserve at home is better then reserve if your a commuter. Right now most of our FO reserves are flying a lot because we are short on FOs. If you have any more questions I'd be happy to answer them.

I stand corrected though I believe most regionals are 10. I don't want to bash other regionals as we are all loyal to our own, even if it barely registers. XJT gets 11 min for reserve and then 12 min for line. Top tier for regionals. 100% cancellation pay. I'm not sure, but I know of a certain air carrier in the DFW area that could have used that yesterday.
Point is, like previously said, do your homework and go where is right for you. Ask the recruiters/interviewers the hard questions so you can make a good decision. It's a two way interview, don't forget that.

Hello Gentlemen, upcoming airline pilot here..
I wanted to ask what a first year FO can expect to gross, given $23/hour, adding in per diem and considering the current work rules.
Any there any recent hires that could give an idea of the experience?
Chances of getting ATL base out of training?
What is current reserve time on the 200 or 700/900 out of ATL?
How often do reserve guys who put down "will-fly" get called?

As for reserve. In ATL you will be on a very very very long time. Over a year. DFW has a lot of movement out since most retreat back to ATL or DTW for 700/900 flying.
I am on reserve in DFW and I fly about 30-50 hours a month. I have call me first and it really doesn't seem to matter most of the time. You will fly more in ATL. I like the commute to DFW better and flying the 200 doesn't bother me at all so that's why I'm here.
Right now I make about 26k flying on the low side of the curve.

Compass is 11-12 depending on how many days in the bid period. Self release by 6pm on the last day, day one of reserve is a later start so you can commute in the morning of. We now get 4 hotels a month in base too.

I got ATL on the 200 right out of training, most people do if they want it. Reserve time on the 200 in ATL is 1.6ish years, DFW 1.3ish. The 700/900 are longer both in ATL and DTW.
This being said, everything posted about this industry is what has happened in the past. We just signed a Letter of Agreement (LOA) with the company that will allow for Hybrid Lines that is so new it hasn't gone into effect yet. Hybrid lines will take some of the people that would have been on reserve and give them a line for part of the month, for the remainder of the month you will be on reserve. Being a line holder is very much preferred to being on reserve. As a line holder you are Pay Protected (100% for trip cancellation), you can pick up and trade trips, and you're not on call. The LOA also allows reserve people to pick up open time and anyone can pick up trips during vacation if they want. All of things things are going into effect in the next few months, some of them as early as December.
