If you cant tell me right now that you will never drink and drive then you need to stop drinking because you have a disease like you said. people who dont drink and drive dont have a drinking disease. why is it so hard? Why cant people not drink and drive. its becuase they have a disease like you called it. strange that this disease rarely kills the person that is infected, and claims countless others.
I can tell you now that I will never drink and drive. Can I tell you that I never did, absolutely not. When I was a few years younger and a little less sensible I didn't give much thought to the decision I was making. Luckily I never got into an accident or got caught doing it. Was I lucky, you bet your life I was. it is very sad about your friends condition my deepest sympathies goes out to his circumstance. unfortunately life isn't fair, easy for me to say that since myself or no one i know has dealt with anything like that, but its the unfortunate reality of the world we live in. your friend paid the price for someone else's mistake and now has to deal with that everyday, definitely not fair. but many more unjust things are going on in this world. iraqi civilians are dying every day because a war they didnt ask for is being fought. surely you are at least slightly familiar with the situation in Sudan. all of these things exemplify how unfair life is. hopefully your friend can turn his tragedy into triumph and find meaning for it all. i am a true believer that everything happens for a reason.

and for your last comment about it rarely killing the person infected, another very ignorant comment. problem is the media chooses to only tell the stories of the drunk guy who hit and killed somebody. they seem to gloss over the stories of the drunk guy who was speeding home and wrapped his car around a pole and died.

I guess asking you to chill a few moments before you pop a vein is too much.

like you said, lots of people get away with it. all of those stories i posted, all of the drunk people survived, while the families died. statistics show that to be true. my friend is doing fine and like you said he is trying to make things the best he can. maybe all things do happen for a reason, but hopefully we can prevent as much pain and suffering as we can personally.

dont worry man i am chilled, just sitting in my hotel room, watching the family guy marathon and chatting on here and with my wife. life is good, you just need to learn how to have a respectable argument if you are going to ever make it in this business.

This thread started out by having a good discussion on the effect of a DUI on a pilot's career. It has slowly evolved into a shouting match that includes personal attacks. Everyone, please review APC's TOS. Keep it clean and professional. Time to move on.
