Wow. I'd think twice about that move unless you live at a republic only base. Skw is better hands down.

I'm new to the regional game in the US and understand that Republic has had its issues in the past, but when you look at the comparisons on AeroCrew etc. Republic generally has better contractual terms.
I'm surprised that some airlines only provide double occupancy, this is generally against the labor code in Canada so I'm not used to seeing this. Not that I think someone should base their career decision on this - just really surprised me!

There was mention that indoc, systems, sim etc. aren't completed in one shot. Could someone give a typical situation as to how the training will progress? i.e. length of indoc, break before starting systems/sim, length of systems/ sim training/IOE. I understand that it may be changing all the time. Curious to hear what you guys in the trenches are experience. Thanks!

Posts like this are irritating. I highly doubt this poster as well as many others who make similar statements have worked at Republic POST contract AND Skywest. Republic should not have the stigma it previously had. The working conditions have greatly improved due to the new contract. It is inaccurate to compare Republic under the previous contract and working conditions, which many posters continuously do.

My point is, when an airline has a significant management change, signs a new labor contract, or restructures its finances, it is not necessarily the "same" airline.

As long as the prior management is in place, the corporate culture will not change and thus the stigma will not change. Management styles do not change, management personnel need to change.

I'm sorry but I'm confused here... AAG and UAL are now struggling to stay alive? Elaborate on that point if you could please.

Unless you live on the east coast and have no desire to ever go west of the Mississippi, then avoid RAH.
Sure first yr pay is higher but it plateau's. They made first yr so high to get butts in the door. Rigs match SKW and don't exceed. Outstation basing will make your life miserable unless you live there.
RAH is the company where after my base closed told me to drive 4 hrs in a blizzard across the state in order to commute to ORD when all my flights cancelled. Then when I refused and commuter clause'd my trip told me I should sell my house and move my family to base. When I refused that they told me I should rent and not own a house.
If I had to do it all over with the regionals, I'd go with SKW. Better variety in trips, similar CBA, better management, better bases. In 5 yrs it won't matter where you're at since the regionals will be a shell of their former selves and most everyone on this board will be at a major.

Anybody want to provide specifics on why this is the case?
