Appreciate your input!

seems SEA and LAX erj are obtainable fairly quickly, Upgrade time is unknown as they are both new bases to the erj so its uncharted territory. SFO on the crj is junior and one of the quickest bases to hold a solid line.
west coast in general has always been rather senior. So my guess is once they are fully staffed the growing will stop, as is seen in PDX. didnt let anyone in this month. Unless someone know if they are getting more planes the growth is already done there. and could the case for the other shortly to follow. SEA crj is way senior, LAX crj is also obtainable and holdable in a relatively short manner.

Thanks for that.
I guess another thing is, the class date one gets; I was told I could start class today (12th) on the CRJ, but not until mid-Feb on the ERJ. So if one waited to take the ERJ, there would be 100 people or so already ahead of you on the seniority list.

That's true theres more new hire spots open in CRJ than ERJ, minimum 100 spots difference if that's your concern.

Just curious on people's thoughts on this...

I'm married to an Air Force officer who just got orders to the Air Force Academy in COS, and who will be eligible for retirement after this assignment. I have about 2600TT, 900 of which is turbine helo (military). Another 800 PIC turboprop instructor (military), and the rest light SEL piston training/CFI (civilian).

I do have my ATP MEL, but no 121 or 135 experience and very minimal part 91 corporate flying. I have maybe 100 hours in the past 12 months.

I know I meet mins, but am I realistically competitive at Skywest?

Also, while I really want to get back into flying full time, my wife is full time military and I can't just leave my family without a father either. Being a CFI for so long is really stagnating my career, but everything I read on these forums about commuting at a regional is that it's the worst of the worst and you can say good-bye to your family. Is it realistic to get reserve in KDEN or KCOS out of training, and stay on reserve there until I could hold a line at one of those 2 airports?

I realize that reserve means little money and little flight time compared to holding a line, but it would likely be more of both than I make now as a part time CFI, and I'd still get to see my kids.

I also understand that what employers are looking for is a 23 year old with 10,000 hours and an attitude that says, "Fly me, fly me, fly me for no pay, no time off, no benefits, just give me hours." Unfortunately, that's not me anymore. Is anyone making Skywest work with kids, but without a stay-at-home spouse?

Thank you everyone for your time.

You will get hired no problem, it takes a lot for OO to turn anyone away. They let ground school and sims weed any poor candidates out.

I'm a 7/25/2016 hire, who has been trying to get DEN on the CRJ. Next month DEN has 152 total FO lines and 160 FOs last time I checked. That means 8 ppl have to upgrade, transition or transfer out for them to let anymore in. Oh and once they start letting ppl in to DEN again you'all be behind a long list of ppl that want DEN as well. Also as more ERJs are received there is a possibility of shrinking DEN CRJ even further. I anticipate not being able to get DEN until summer flying picks up so that puts it at almost 1 year for CRJ. If you go ERJ I think it takes 7 months and that might be falling.

COS is a similar story because everyone that has a transfer request for DEN, also has one for COS. So to get COS it will probably take close to 10 months. Last month 1 guy transferred out and they let 1 in.

PM me if you need anymore info

^i agree. 1 year ago was a different story. Anyone could get DEN or COS. Its all timing and with the shift of 700's going from UA to AA won't help..

We need everyone with a pulse. You'll get an interview so just apply. COS is pretty junior from what I understand. Lots of guys have kids here and make it work.

You'll be a good candidate. COS is pretty junior and you should be able to hold that soon. Reserve whilst living in base is actually quite nice.
