On one hand, Skywest travel bennies on the CRJ (Delta and United) are the best you will find anywhere.

But the most important thing above all is to live within driving distance of your base.

You're in a good position... get senior in the right seat and then enjoy the ride.

Edit: What about Cape Air? If money were no object I'd be inclined to get the home-town job flying into smaller fields. I guarantee you, its more fun than a big jet (but harder work). The most fun job I've had in the progression was flying the B1900 for good old Great Lakes. Great people, outstanding pilots, poor paycheck...

If you want travel benefits, the American wholly owned regionals have the best by far. They are the exact same travel privileges that mainline American pilots have. And if you live in the northeast, I'd look at Piedmont for the E145 in Philly. My wife and I travel all over the place using our travel benefits and it's great. Next to no problems getting around. I work for PSA and I usually have at least 15 days off /month and we spend at least a week every month going somewhere or doing something. Piedmont if you live in the northeast would be a great option for you.

I agree you can not match wholly owned travel. Paris is ez to do out of philly and gets you anywhere in Europe.

We have several guys like the OP. I LOVE FLYING WITH THEM! Also, I am like hand I am also like the OP. I couldn't imagine doing anything else with my time. The trips are fun and we explore fun places on the overnights in no name USA. If you don't like it... You got a type rating, and some great stories to tell friends.

Commutair would be a solid choice for you if you want EWR. If you were to get in by the end of the year, you will be in the top 50% of the senority List in about 12-18 months.

Skywest. Go to DTW which is a short commute. It is the best of the regionals and will treat you the best. Best benefits. They keep moving east. Best choices of flying. Pick a different base every month and have a good time flying around.

This kind of person is the exact reason you should avoid Skywest...

I'm willing to bet with that attitude even the MAF headquarters in St George don't like you.

iScooter,

Honestly I would suggest Endeavor to you. NYC is very junior so you'll have a good schedule fairly quickly. The commute from BOS to LGA is probably the easiest in the states right. Even if you get JFK based, you have a ton of JetBlue flights you can take as well. I have friends doing both and there are rarely any complaints. Lots of us NYC guys at 9E are commuters so you'll be in similar company.

I can't say for certain the future of the company, but we are in a better position than most right now. Hiring has probably peaked for 2016, but next year we supposed to be getting another 20 CRJ200s which will all be NYC based aircraft for at least 12 months (this is assuming DL doesn't eliminate the 50 seat jet entirely from scope...). Good pay, good travel benefits (you travel at a higher priority than any other regional on DL mainline), lots of movement in the NY bases. Management seems to know what they're doing for now and are working hard to keep the wheels on the bus.

If you've got any questions ask away. Here or PM.
