Default Regional is my 2nd career, best QoL&Benefits?

After retiring from decades in a non-aviation career, becoming a CFI and building hours for a few years, I've decided to give the regionals a try.

- Money is not a motivating factor (I'm previously retired).

- Decent benefits such as medical & dental would be nice, but what I have now is good enough.

- Travel benefits for myself and the wife are important so we can take mini vacations wherever and whenever I'm not working.

- Shortest time on reserve.

- Upgrade and/or movement to majors not a priority, although flying for JB one day and being based in BOS would be nice.

- I live in the New England area and would most likely have to commute from Boston.

- Since I don't know any better, I'm assuming my best choice for bases would be Laguardia and Newark?

For me this is more about the fun of learning to fly jets in a part 121 environment.

Which regional do folks suggest? I've tried to read as much of the forum as possible but there are sooo many threads it's hard to pull it all together.

Thanks!

I would look at Endeavor and Republic. Republic is in bankruptcy, so the future isn't 100% certain but I think they will survive and they have a pretty good contract.

I work at Endeavor and I commute from BOS.

Endeavor is a decent place to work right now. We are a regional so no future is certain, but it will be a solid place to be at for another couple of years at least. Retention bonus for another couple years of $23k. Research, research, research.

Also what about Cape Air or PenAir right there in BOS?

Let me know if I can be of help.

What about a base in the DC area (DCA, IAD, BWI)? Would that be a better option from BOS for a commute?

You want to "try the jets"? Nevermind, don't come to my company.

With the Delta Shuttle doing hourly flights between BOS and LGA that might be just about one of the easiest commutes out there.
