Default Dire predictions

An article covering a presentation given at Bombardier’s 15th Annual Safety Standdown. Personally I think the predictions of a 400% increase in this sector's aviation accident rate is a little 'sky is falling' mentality, many of the ponts that he brings up when making his predictions as valid in my opinion.

Could happen. With a very low accident rate to begin with it wouldn't take many to make a big statistical dent.

Concord went from having the best safety record in airline history to having the worst in about ten minutes.

I have noticed that out of the pilots I know many of the most severely entitled members of the entitlement-generation have gravitated towards bizav because the airlines are too constraining. The ones who can stand to toe the line don't mind sticking with 121.

Interesting article. Are safety experts any better than financial experts?

The numbers are not such that would support a Concorde type of statistical change and I'm not sure if there has ever been a 400% increase or decrease in aviation safty even in the hey-day of Naval Aviation when they were crashing an average of an aircraft per day (though I don't have that popular chart in front of me right now)

No I doubt ANY type of expert is any better than the Financial experts who frequent as talking heads. I'm going to offer up my experience as a MILITARY expert to the Showtime series 'Homeland' soon though if they don't fix some of the more glaring mistakes in that show!
