Bad news: Four hours x 500kts = very large AOU.

Good news: The engine data should provide insight into whether someone was actually flying the airplane.

But I'd be curious to know exactly how engine data is transmitted to Boeing...that would clarify what systems might have been damaged vs. intentionally disabled. It seems a stretch that a failure/fire could have disabled comms/transponders but somehow the engines are still able to phone home. Unless they have their own data system with SAT link? That would seem like overkill.

Anybody know?

He did not jump on a band wagon, he was stating fairly recent history. For the record, if it was terrorism, I would suspect Chinese terrorists, who may or may not be Muslim.
IF it was terrorists, I'd agree. MH is not a suitable target for the usual Muslim suspects.

I'm not 100% sure Rick but I do know that I believe this was mis-information. I guess CNN confirmed that the last transmitted engine data was before ATC lost contact with the jet.

Actually I shouldn't say confirmed, "reports were denied"

The idea of hijacking a plane to use later sounds pretty tin-foil-hat but at this point it's entered the realm of possibility.

The government should have kept a lid on the engine data though...on the off chance the airplane is going to be used again the bad guys would have had no idea they squawking engine parameters.

That data feed could have been forward to cheyenne mt....if the airplane got airborne again they could saturate the skies with AWACS and fighters for a half day or so.

Ha,Ha. At this point, I don't know who or what to believe.

But I'm inclined to trust WSJ more than the Malay government...the later might not have been included in a conversation between Boeing and the USG.

Be very interested in hearing exactly how that engine data is transmitted.

It sounds so mystery movie-like, but what better way to steal something that big, than to make every one chase their tails looking for it in the ocean?

But it just wouldn't make sense that in that case how no one on board didn't try to contact someone.

I still have faith that they haven't looked adequately well in the area of the Chinese satellite images. I think I read somewhere that China ordered two vessels to that very area where today Vietnamese search planes didn't find a thing.

In any case, it is imperative to find the CVRs and the FDRs because if there has been structural or mechanical failure, corrective action is necessary ASAP. That's what concerns me the most.

Has anyone proposed the theory of rapid decompression which disabled the crew and the aircraft stayed on autopilot after crew initiated an off course deviation?

It's so funny to see CNN itching for clues because "they have to know", American Propaganda. It's like they want to be, sorry they are the world police to go over there and take care of business and make a story about it. Yet when Russia walked into Crimea (Krym or Крым) and took over because America can't and will not do anything because they're afraid of Putin, CNN is stating that it's Russian Propaganda. America and their News, so censored. Learn more languages and you'll know the truth in the world instead of listening to what America wants you to hear.
