Sad news

I wouldn't be surprised if fatigue was a factor...

Default NBC's Tom Costello

On this morning's Today show, Matt interviewed Tom Costello about the A320 crash. Tom described the Airbus as a fly-by-wire system, and that while he was visiting Airbus' manufacturing plant, they told him (I'm paraphrasing) that because its FBW and heavily automated, the pilot's do not have to be the "best pilots" or "cream of the crop" to fly the AB.

I had some respect for Costello (as far as media aviation "experts" go), but he really put his foot in his mouth this time.

Sad indeed.

This appears to be an enroute accident. Why do think that fatigue might be a factor?

Who watches news anymore?, specially with "aviation experts talking heads". Waste of time.

I was trying to get more information so I turned on CNN this morning, but couldn't last more than 2 minutes listening to their aviation experts and analysts.

What's the single engine service ceiling for the A320?
