No need to key the mic, mic is hot between the crew. At least in the bus

Geez I don't know. FedEx jets? That's tough. You really are slimming down your options there, pal. I know what I like on most other jets but "Fedex" jets. Phewwwieee no clue!

If you flew FedEx jets, you'd understand which jets, which communications panels, which ATC environments, and which crew procedures were implied by the phrasing of the question.

Since you obviously don't, your ignorance could be excused, but for your snarky post. Thanks for adding value to the conversation.

I've been on the MD-11 for most of the past 20 years. It's pretty quiet, I'm not sure I remember ever flying with someone that brought their own headset?
75/76 today. Who knows next year? Just aiming to better break out ATC in busy/foreign areas, especially on climb out. Getting older/more deaf has absolutely ZERO to do with it.

'Preciate all the responses. Peace out--

I'm gonna give my QC15 uflymike a try on the 75/76 until someone yells at me. I really enjoyed using it on the 74, and it especially comes in handy when commuting

Perfectly legal if you have the certification, if not, section S for you.

Is this like Klingor's Section 8?

I use the the David Clark Pro X on 757, works well. Usually keep left ear-cup off to hear the captain talk.

Welcome to the Fedex segment of the forum. Ya know...... for Fedex pilots flying Fedex aircraft and perhaps those who might be interested in doing so.

Considering the fact that not all commercially available headsets seem to play nicely with all aircraft in use throughout the industry, I think his question was valid. I brought a molded ear telex unit from my previous major airline and found it didn't work well in the MD-11. The mic created issues with my transmissions and that's obviously a no go.

Asking other Fedex pilots about what works well for them in the specific aircraft we operate seems like a pretty clear, targeted inquiry. Why ask those who work elsewhere and might be operating aircraft we don't?
