Default UPS 2019 Hiring

Company announced today its plans to hire between 275-300 pilots in 2019.

No news of any additional aircraft acquisitions, route expansions, or any base changes, ie. SDF 747 domicile. MD continues to ween itself out of ANC.

Best of luck to all.

That is great news. I hope I'm one of the fortunate ones!

Default Training Center?

I heard the 747 training pipeline is really backed up (reading posts online). Is there any news about it getting better? Is there a new 747 training center opening soon to help the flow with so many new hires coming in?

AFAIK....

1. True
2. No
3. The Sprague is the new sim center in SDF, not 74 specific.

The good news is that 747 new hires are almost off probation by the time they finish IOE. Any hiccup in training and it’s a 6 month process

Interviewed last June, but was not offered a position.

Should I reapply?
Any suggestions on how I could improve my chances of being hired?

No simple answer as we hire pilots from literally every possible background one could imagine. Men and women, young and old, white, black, grey, different nationalities, military, civilian and/or mixed backgrounds. Heavy jet operators (Emirates, Atlas, Kalitta, etc.), regional pilots (Republic, Skywest, etc.) or §135/91 pilots who flew long-range private jets (Gulfstream 650s, Falconjets,..) etc., etc., etc...

You are asking “should I reapply”? Well, a much better question would’ve been - ‘will you ever get hired if you don’t?’
Have you ever been turned down before? Guess what, many of us have. You’re not the first one nor will you be the last one.
Timing, luck but most of all, perseverance is how many of us got where we wanted to be.
One thing is certain - if you simply give up you’ll always regret it because you’ll always wonder if you’d have succeeded at some point?

Search our threads and you’ll find numerous stories from guys and gals who were rejected. Many over and over again but they kept trying. Many of them wear our uniforms today. Not all of them. Some ended up elsewhere BUT they kept trying and today they’re content knowing they tried their best.
If your user name implies your age you’ve got all kinds of time ahead of you.
Without knowing any specifics of your career it’s hard to give you advice. However, YES, you should re-apply.
Good luck to you!!

PS. My reply is meant for all of you who tried but didn’t make it. NEVER GIVE UP!
Wish you all the best!!!

They aren’t budging often, if ever, on 1000 hours tpic I think it says “preferred” but it’s pretty much mandatory.

Research the company’s core values for guidance but it’s pretty much the same as everywhere else: a full resume. This implies lots of activity beyond just flying the line. Leadership positions, volunteer work, graduate degree, etc. UPS likes higher time folks with heavy and/or international experience. Definitely reapply if you want the gig.
