I was talking about the MAX, which is flown only by a handful of US majors whose standards are fairly well known.

I disagree. MCAS does the job. It’s just poorly implemented. Have It not activate if you have disagreement in the AOA indicators and limit the nose down travel and I think it’ll be good.

Yes, if you're lucky. They delayed the decision on whether to even proceed with NMA until next year. Not even clear whether they think they have a business case.

That market niche is squeezed between stretch 737/A321 on the low end, and 787/A350 on the high end. There might be a case for longer range and a few more seats than stretch NBs. Maybe. The 75 didn't have to compete with stretch guppy...

If I remember correctly, the NMA is also not supposed to be a narrow body but two aisles. I think the 75 out grew a lot of gates length wise.

Correct, with likely a hybrid double bubble fuselage... they want twin aisles for quicker gate ops, but don't want all the drag and fuel burn of a large diameter WB hull.

Another case of industry capturing the regulatory process. See:

Default Why not a memory item

Just read that according to the cockpit recorder that one pilot was going through the QRH and the other was praying, why in the world was runaway trim not a memory item. Just asking, I'm only a private pilot so put away the knives.

This is wasn’t exhibited as a runaway due to the intermittent nature of the automatic trimming.

Just read that the FO only had 200 hours of flight time. Apparently Sully made a facebook comment on it. That's abysmally low. I wasn't aware that some international outfits flew folks with such low credentials.

Some? Many. In fact outside of a few western countries it’s the norm. Most start out as a “cruise pilot” in a WB doing long haul to gain experience (fill the seat cheaply) next to a more experienced pilot. Their turn at the controls is extremely limited if not completely non existent.

A 200hr pilot in a 737? Unbelievable
