Well first off I am not a low timer, but I think your rushing to judgement. Most IOE captains are very experienced. I dont care how much "Intructor time" one has, people are bound to make some mistakes on IOE flying a jet for the first time. What exactly are you afraid of? learning from an experienced captain?

Also, in some of the low timers defense, I HAVE seen some very capable 400-600 hour pilots here. I'm not sure about the lower timers yet, but the training department over here at eagle is doing a great job at getting EVERYONE ready for what lies ahead; I'm sure they will do just fine.

Why in the world would I be afraid of learning from an experienced captain??? you read my post backwards, I would afraid of letting a new guy with 40 hours of multi-engine time land a jet (while I'm in the left seat). Teaching IOE at a regional its not for me AT ALL.

You don't have to agree with me, everytime we talk about low timers getting on with the regionals, things get heated. There's always some who jump in to defend them.

If you feel safe flying a jet with someone who doesn't even have 400 hrs total time, that's cool, none of my business, I respect that.

I'd much rather not do it.
