Just to keep the record straight, the cat was shipped from the breeder to the owner. They were not traveling with the cat. One of the comments the owner made was that for the cost of shipping the cat, she could have bought a round trip ticket and carried the cat.

An update from Snicker's "Owner." Irony warning at the end ... and no, I did not add that or make it up. That's her own advice.
Hi Everyone, I wanted to first thank everyone for their support. You are all truly wonderful.

I haven't posted an update on Delta because I feel so defeated & mentally exhausted. To explain: In the end, they (Billy Freeman/Delta Airlines) have finally put a price tag on life. They have valued my Snickers life based on dimensional weight. They equate each pound to be worth 50 cents. The carrier had a dimensional weight of 20 pounds. Doing some really simple mathematics, the value of life in this instance is $10. (True Colors anyone?)

The sad part is this -- I would rather have had them tell me to go screw then to add insult to an already devastating situation. $10? Are you kidding me?

I emailed Billy to let him know he must have made a error when he was typing to give him & Delta the benefit of the doubt. I also asked to deal with another department from this point forward. His only response was that his supervisor is expecting my signed agreement back as soon as possible. And on that note -- they don't deserve another response from me.

In my opinion, it is not a mistake that defines a company -- what defines a company is how they work to remedy the situation, both in the short & long term. Delta, this is a "test" of integrity YOU HAVE FAILED. You have failed Snickers, you have failed your patrons, you have failed your stockholders & most importantly, you have failed yourselves.

Felt good to say that. Heather

From what I can tell from her blog / forum posts, women who dress hairless cats in hats and call them "my babies" are going to boycott Delta Air Lines. Not sure if that boycott includes our own Flight Attendants.

I miss Sailing, Slow, Alpha and ACL. You know it is a slow week when I google search "hairless cat in 7 degree weather."

Personally, I think it should be about 2 hours of pay (no credit) for every 0-12 hours of short call. I.E. you get 2 hours of pay whether you are on short call for 30 minutes or 12 hours, paid over and above the reserve min or total credit for the month, whichever is higher. Over 12 hours, you get another 2 hours. That would give the company an incentive to minimize the use of short calls. Right now, international category guys can be used for short call twice as much as domestic.

Not ACL, but the last thing I saw was a press release that said that Delta and the DOT had jointly gone to the court where the Delta vs. DOT lawsuit was filed and said "hey, we might be able to work this out, so standby." That happened about a month ago, I think. Can't seem to find the article on-line.

Maybe he already knows the answer and invested based on his insider knowledge.

Bizarre.

So I ship a naked cat in a plane in the winter and expect him to live.

What kind of nut job allows a 3lb 11 week old hairless kitten be flown in cargo from Utah to Hartford where it's 10 degrees outside?? I'd think twice if it was a big fat harry dog much less this:

I think $50 is appropriate because it'll get you at least one cat, maybe more, from the local SPCA shelter that's about to be killed for over population. It'd save a life and save a lot of money over having a breeder make you a cat and ship in such a way as to kill it.

Heather... EPIC FAIL.

Can Buzz come hang out with you? I'm putting him on suicide watch, or going postal watch, now that we know Soros is invested in Delta.

Point being, a cat is a commodity. The owner paid what the cat was worth, and that cat's value was determined from the sale of other similar cats.

There should be some form of contract between the buyer and seller. What, if anything is offered, to who, should be resolved by simply reviewing the agreement.

My guess is that some third party (Delta outsources everything) lower level claims adjuster has this file and is handling it without regard for the image of Delta Air Lines. Yet, they are a "Representative" of Delta Air Lines none the less.

Did Soros say if he was short, or long?
