Default Fixed wing contract jobs Vs. rotary wing

I'm currently in Iraq as a rotary wing contract mechanic for the Army. I really would like to leave the rotary wing side of maintenance and get into fixed wing side. I'll be getting my a&p license when I get home. Can some one please tell me about how's the fixed wing side of contract maintenance? So far, I don't like the rotary wing side. I think rotary wing needs more work/ flight hour compared to fixed wing side, because they have more moving parts, etc. The only reason I'm working on rotary wing is because that's what I did in the Army. Which contract companies hire new fixed wing a&p mechanics?

Thank you
