Default faa atp with 737ng endorsement

i have ICAO cpl licence with 737ng endorsement and about 1700 hrs on type. And i just completed my check ride of FAA ATP on 737ng simulator . And when i asked the school that will i get ATP with 737ng endorsement with license (which i presumed i will ), they just refused it and told me that i will just get ATP with multiengine land on it ..no 737ng.
Now i m so confused and they offered me another course (TYPE RATING )for around 9000usd for 737ng endorsement on my FAA ATP. i don't understand, when i have already 737ng endorsement in my ICAO cpl and have so many hours on type, why not rating just transfer from my other license and why school offering me so expensive course again. Now is there any rule which will by pass this issue and get me endorsement on 737ng.
please help !!!!!!!

My friend,

It doesn't work the way you are thinking. You must go through a type rating course, perhaps a short course, but a course nonetheless to get the FAA type.
Check with your local FSDO if you are in doubt but in my experience there is no automatic transfer of a type rating to an FAA license.

I was in this boat about 7 years ago, 4000hrs on 73,with JAA ATP, had to do sim course in part 142 program to get the type on my FAA license.

Just my experience, YMMV

You can do an ATP checkride in a jet (sim) and not get a type? That seems suprising to me.

You got conned by an unscrupulous sim center. That's never happened before

To get an FAA type rating you must complete an approved course in the type; take an oral exam or equivalent; then take a type ride with a designated examiner/TCE or the FAA.

What I would do if I were you is complain very loudly to the sim center. Then force them to reduce the cost of any proposed type rating course by the amount that you have already spent.

FAA orals are not easy as compared to European multiple choice system exams so make sure to study diligently for it.

TP - Can he legally take an ATP checkride where he must demonstrate abilities as the PIC of the aircraft, and not get a type rating?

FlyBoy - that was not cool what they did to you. I'm a past USAF pilot and instructor and flew many years over seas as a 747-400 pilot. I'm now instructing 737's for a part 142 school house and there is such a small difference between the ATP and type that most of our guys that are getting both literally just have to do a stall series a bit more on the oral about ATP related topics. Same price as the guys taking the type - that already have the ATP. PM me if you want some info maybe I can talk to the owner about working a deal -but, what you should do first is go back to whomever did this to you and make them feel very very guilty indeed.

I honestly do not know that answer to that, but he can't legally take a type ride unless he's been through an "approved course".

TP
Can't he get an endorsement under part 61?
I know couple of pilots that got some GA jets type that way, I am not sure why that would not apply to a 73.
He definitely got ripped off, and should try to negotiate a deal.

If you're going to fly the plane for the checkride you could go part 61. If you use a sim it has to be under 142 and 142 requires an approved program.

And to the OP, there's no NG rating in the FAA's world. Just B-737. Covers -100 through -900.
