So all you OAL pilots that are flying SWA don't be bashful walk up to your ops agent and let him/her know you are flying jumpseat. It also give you a chance to stow your bags, nothing worse than at the end of boarding to try to find a place for bags, expecially on the flgihts that are packed all the time.
Wish all SWA CA's were like you. I ride SWA probably once or twice a month, normally good experiences, though last week I was almost denied boarding by gate agents for wearing a North Face jacket and baseball cap over my uniform (and with a seat in the back). CA pulled me off the flight and spoke with me about it, then decided to let me ride. I was clean shaven and looked nice, just had baseball hat on.

Also, seems like 80% of the stations want you to walk up and pre-board and 20% look at you like you are crazy trying to pre-board. Just my experience.

I second the Gizmo. Since we don't have first class, the least I can do is try to get you on early.

Do not forget your PASSPORT! I saw a former TWA CA who now flies for AA and he was flying to SEA and forgot his passport. That is a requirement from WN if you don't have it you probably will not get the jumpseat. Enjoy all.

Here is what is on our SWAPA website concerning CASS:

CASS works pretty well but did you know that nearly one out of six CASS requests come back DENIED? This can happen for a variety of reasons including expired passports, technical problems with the network and incorrect user info in the database to name just a few. Most airlines, including SWA, have workarounds to accommodate a crewmember with a seat in the cabin if CASS comes back with DENIED. However, you may be asked to show additional ID and you will only be accommodated in the cabin. Don’t forget to check in with the Captain during boarding.

When I get to the gate they say they can't use that anyway because they have to access CASS. Not sure about our gate agents, but rest assured if they are busy I will slip over to another gate and list myself. I fly mostly AM's and they usually are not too busy.

CS2 works a bit differently for employees as opposed to OAL guys. If you're OAL it it preferred that you call rez and list prior. They can, and gladly will list you at the gate, but you never know how busy they will be.

I tried jumpseating on SWA recently w/o my passport (hadn't js'ed in over 5 years, so I was clueless.) I was in CASS just fine, but was denied the j/s. I asked if I could get a seat in the back, "NO". I asked if I could buy a ticket and ride in the back, "YES". I asked if this made sense, "CONFUSED LOOK". Asked for a Mananger (politely) who agreed with the gate agent until she looked it up in the SWA manual---You do not need a Passport to ride in the back, and common sense prevailed.....Thanks for the lift SWA and I mean that!

Maybe I should have said you can ONLY RIDE COCKPIT if you have a PASSPORT, NO PASSPORT and you are subject to seats available in coach.

Your company also needs to have a "reciprocal agreement" with SWA to J/S as well as CASS. I worked for a company last year that was in CASS, but no recip. with SWA. SWA wasn't terribly interested in setting it up, either. I tried.
