Received phone call today from PD offering an earlier class date. Was scheduled for 9/7, today offered 7/27.

My speculation is that the interview day has a huge impact on the overall outcome. At the end of the day the interview team can throw your name in three buckets. Bucket one is all three areas (HR portion, logbook review and LOE 7 minute exercise) were great and the Decision board should be a formality. Bucket 2 is not all areas were great so Decision board will take a close look at the whole package and determine the outcome. Bucket 3 is none of the areas were great and you basically get a thumbs down from the interview team. Bucket 1 and 2 get references called but bucket 2 still can receive a TBNT. This would explain your friends case. Bucket 3 no references are called and TBNT eventually sent out.
I have never heard of anybody getting hired without references being called but that does not mean it has never happened. It would surprise me because it seems they use the phonecalls as a resume verification.
It took three weeks until my references were called whereas others from my group had them called within a week. Hope that helps a bit!

Good logic! Well I hope something like that happens after a few weeks of nothing!

So you think you were on bucket two? Perhaps.

Lucky! By chance did they mention if they had more spots to fill? I'm hoping to get a call to move up also from Sept 7.

If you folks hear of anyone who:

1. is offered a class and turns it down (presumably to go elsewhere)

2. Is moved up to an earlier class due to the above

3. Quits during class

4. Quits after already online

Could you post here? The union has some numbers for resignations, but very little information regarding pilots who use SW as a stepping stone (accept a class date while awaiting one elsewhere) or who choose not to come at all after interviewing. Just curious what HR is having to deal with.

I can assure that if I get a call....im there to stay. My dad, a retired AA guy, alway said "you won't know you made the right decision on airline choice till the day you retire" For that reason I rather not jump around, the airline will choose me not the other way around.

Anybody else attend the WIA conference in March, get an email saying to apply to the new job posting in March, and then never get a call for an interview?

I can assure you I felt the same way until I started to read the email updates from management, the fact based approach our Union has taken towards recent negotiations, and the fact that the pay, upgrade, retirement, and job security will all be better at the Legacies due to the shear number of retirements that are GuARANTEED.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. The only reason to come to Sohthwest over a Legacy is if they offer a base you want to live in that none of the Legacies have.

BINGO! It's insane in my view that anyone would choose SWA over one of the Big 3 nowadays unless it's a domicile issue.

Think it would do any good to write to the BOD and have them add an age 65 retirement clause, preventing them from going to 67 even if the law changes?
