Big Airline?

Just curious to hear from some people there.

Our senior management is certainly trying, but they haven't reprogrammed most of the front-line employees yet.

I don't mean to come off as a "negative nancy", just have heard and read some disturbing things, that never happened when Herb was driving.

I'd like to at least think there was still one decent place left.

Thanks to all in advance for the replies.

You aren't being negative. Everything you've heard is true. The company has a very draconian social media policy so we have to be careful with what we say on public forums. If you want specific details send me a PM. In the meantime ask yourself why the "LUV" airline would let contract negotiations drag on for 4 years and why we are picketing for the 4th time next month.

This article sheds some light on the situation.

That's exactly why I posed this question. From what I've heard over the years, this would have never gone on in the Herb days. That's really sad. I had heard that the company would have sided with a pilot over anyone else back in the day. That the employees actually bought fuel for the company back in the slim days. The only way I would have ever bought any fuel at AMR was if I could have poured it onto mgt and lit it.

Got my 73 type in 2012 at HP. Even there, we were hearing things, but, what can you do.

That's funny...and warranted.

Like I said, PM me if you want the real scoop.

Take care.

You're correct! This would NEVER have happened back in the Herb days!

In those days, oSWApA would've already capitulated and sold a concessionary contract/extension, likely before the amendable date.

We'd have an "industry leading" contract right now, with pay and benefits that lag the real majors by a large margin, just like in the Herb days.

So true, Slip. My angst over our current kompany management is at least offset by my satisfaction with JW and the new SWAPA.

Same here! As long as we don't allow the old SWApA mentality to take over again, there is hope for our careers.

Looking forward to (hopefully) seeing over 1000 of my SWAPA brothers and sisters on the 24th in DAL!

If you haven't been to an IP yet, be in Dallas on the 24th. Get rid of your trip, cash in some swag points for RR points and buy a ticket. It is cathartic.

The culture at the airline isn't dead. You'll see it all around you in the people who stand beside you at the IP.
